Psalm: Psalms 97:1-2, 6-7, 9
1 For the same David, when his land was restored again to him. The Lord hath reigned, let the earth rejoice: let many islands be glad. 2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: justice and judgment are the establishment of his throne. 6 The heavens declared his justice: and all people saw his glory. 7 Let them be all confounded that adore graven things, and that glory in their idols. Adore him, all you his angels: 9 For thou art the most high Lord over all the earth: thou art exalted exceedingly above all gods.

Second Reading: Hebrews 1:1-6
1: In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; 2: but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3: He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature, upholding the universe by his word of power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4: having become as much superior to angels as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs. 5: For to what angel did God ever say, "Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"? 6: And again, when he brings the first-born into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

Gospel: Mark 1:14-20
14 And after that John was delivered up, Jesus came in Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying: The time is accomplished and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel: 16 And passing by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting nets into the sea for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them: Come after me; and I will make you to become fishers of men. 18 And immediately leaving their nets, they followed him. 19 And going on from thence a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were mending their nets in the ship: 20 And forthwith he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with his hired men, they followed him.
