Vatican City, Nov 21, 2008 / 11:18 am (CNA).- As a “concrete and tangible initiative” to promote the protection of the environment, the Vatican has replaced concrete panels on the roof of the Paul VI Hall with photo electric ones, which it will unveil next Wednesday.

The new installation, which is part of the "green culture characterized by ethical values" promoted by Benedict XVI, will protect the building from the elements and convert solar energy into electricity.

The 2,400 components of the installation not only replaced the concrete roof panels, but also matched the dimensions of the original tiles planned by the building's architect, Pier Luigi Nervi. The panels have a dual function: "passively" protecting the building from the elements and "actively" converting solar energy into electricity.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, and will be attended by Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo, president of the Governorate of Vatican City State; Pier Carlo Cuscianna, director of technical services of the Governorate of Vatican City State; Livio De Santoli of Rome's "La Sapienza" University; Frank Asbeck, president of Solar World AG, and Carlo Rubbia, winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics.

In an effort to become the first carbon-neutral state, the Vatican is also growing a 37-acre forest dubbed the “Vatican Climate Forest” in Hungary to offset its annual carbon dioxide emissions.

(ct--I would add Popes and antipopes to that) --St. John Chrystosdom Much truth in those statements...even now. Listen to me conciLIARS: drop the Catholic name. You guys and gals are something else...but Catholic is not it. Stop hugging trees and praying with non-Catholics and come back to the Faith...if you can't...again, drop the Catholic name! It's simple...

I don't know if this is further the smoke of satan or just some Church members smoking something else, but I can see the Peters Pence fund doesn't need my money if the Vatican is going to waste man and women hours on this sort of foolishness. Why don't they ship it to Africa and help some poor farmers power a water pump! You know, those ones Al Gore wants to pay to not grow economically!

We know for a fact that the Church will never be destroyed, but to know that the Church is going "green" raises eyebrows. The Antichrist and his empire promotes naturistic ideas. Men in the Church should take precautions.

As I firmly adhere to Cardinal Biffi's of Bologna insights on the Antichrist being and ecologist and ecumenist, we should be on guard. Let's most of all, turn to the Bible to recognize the signs of the times and to the CCC for guidance for we live in deceiptful times.

Remember that the CCC 675 states: "Before Christ's second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the "mystery of iniquity" in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. the supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh."

The Vatican must be pretty wealthy to be able to pursue these "green objectives". Where is the money for these comming from?

Except that trees do no offset any CO2, for all the CO2 that they absorb as they grow returns to the environment when they die. The CO2 cycle is middle-school-level knowledge!

It is pretty sad to see the Church "officially" buying into Cap and Trade, for which there is no scientific justification. Futher it will bankrupt us all.
