.- The Holy See's press office released details this morning of the Pope's previously announced visit to the Synagogue of Rome as well as the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization's offices in Rome.

The Holy Father will first visit the headquarters of the FAO on November 16 to mark the opening of the World Summit on Food Security. The international summit is being held during the organization's 36th general conference, taking place November 18-23.

As previously announced by the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, Pope Benedict will also pay a visit to the Synagogue of Rome on January 17, 2010.

The date was chosen to coincide with “the 21st Day for the study and development of dialogue between Catholics and Jews, and of the Feast of the 'Mo'ed di Piombo' which falls on the same day.”

According to the press office, “The feast commemorates a miraculous event of 1793 when the Jews of Rome escaped an attack by the populace of the city thanks to a sudden storm which doused the fires that had been ignited against the gates of the ghetto.”

Fred Fred; The difference is if I meet a protestant heretic or a pagan walking down the street and end up talking to him, I try to CONVERT him to Christ and his TRUE Church, which I do in my own life. I do not say that they are in a TRUE Church, or "believe in the same God as we do", like the post Vatican II "Catholic" hierarchy erroneously teaches! With todays technology, invincible ignorance is all but gone. Let me ask you a question: Do you think the Vatican II effeminate, and watered down Catholic truth and "ecumenism" has converted more people to Christ and his True Church than before Vatican II? That's right there has been less conversions since Vatican II! One reason is because, according to the post concilliar "Catholic" hierarchy, all religions are the same, and all "Churches" are the same, so no one has to convert to Catholism any longer to be saved. Our Lord said: "By their fruits you shall know them" I have seen the fruit of the post concilliar "Church", Homo "priests", liberalism, modernism, heresy, relativism, and apostasy! That fruit is bad and rotten!

Francis et al: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Ring a bell? Here's a hypothetical situation for you. You're walking down the road, and someone comes up to you and asks if you're Christian. You say "Yes, I'm Catholic." He says, "Catholics go to hell." How likely are you to convert? He is of course wrong, but the fact is that even if he was right you would ignore him. But maybe if you talk to him for a while about why it is that he thinks Catholics are going to hell, if you show some of the flaws in his assumptions about us, if you have an intelligent conversation about Christianity and why it is that things are the way they are, you may plant the seeds of understanding, which, with time, may grow into conversion. And if not, maybe you can at least convince him we're not all Pagan Statue-Worshipers, and work with him to minister to the poor, sick, and needy and do the work God told us to do. This is what dialogue is. God often works through people, even those who you think are going to hell (and might be). Judas' betrayal, for example, was an evil action by Judas which led to the Crucifixion of Christ. Murdering the Son of God is by all accounts a bad thing, but led to wondrous consequences. God could easily work through Jews, why exclude them? Also, if you ignore or insult all the people you think are going to hell, you're not going to save many of them.

You're all so right. I've been trying to say we should burn the jewish temples for over 500 years now. You're all good enough to finally call yourself Protestants. Screw the church, Hitler saw things my way too. Glad you're all finally coming around to my way of thinking. Jesus bless you all, to Hell with jews.

Edward from Birmingham Alabama said: Can anyone please explain to me the infatuation that Ratzinger has for the Talmudic Judaics? I'll give it a shot Edward with my opinion why; Benedict, like John Paul the II and most post Vatican II Catholic "bishops" and "theologians" fear the Jews, are heretics, and subscribe to the relativist, indifferentism, and secular New world order; which says that all "religions" are the same, and that Jesus, and his Catholic Church are A WAY, not the ONLY WAY to salvation! Sadly, like Fr Joseph Coyle correctly said in his comment: "They are heretics and apostates by design not by accident".

Does this person not realize that the actions of the so called conciliar church are not misguided mistakes but deliberate acts against the true Church of God. They are heretics and apostates by design not by accident.

"The date was chosen to coincide with the 21st Day for the study and development of dialogue between Catholics and Jews, and of the Feast of the 'Mo'ed di Piombo' which falls on the same day.” When will the Pope and the rest of the Concilliar Church stop this stupidity and apostasy?! "Dialogue" with the Jews is not only useless, but also heretical!! The Jews have hated Our Lord and his Catholic church for 2000 years! If the Pope wants "dialogue" with the Jews then he should tell them the truth; which is that the Jews are in a false and outdated "religion", and the only way that they can be saved is to except Jesus, be baptized, and become Catholic! That would be REAL DIALOGUE with the JEWS; Instead of this false, effeminate, and heretical indifferentism that has permeated the Catholic Church since Vatican II! How many more souls will be lost until Rome gets back to Catholic Orthodoxy?! Our Lady of Fatima pray for us!
