.- The Holy See’s press office has denied a report published by the Italian daily La Repubblica, which made claims that John Paul II will be beatified in 2010 and that Rome and Krakow are locked in a dispute over which city will host the ceremony. Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office said Pope John Paul II “will surely be beatified,” but the process must be completed, including the decree certifying a miracle. Lombardi also denied the reported tension between Rome and Krakow, Poland. “The Pope is the Pope and he belongs to the universal Church,” he said. Subscriber comments:

Let us not forget also that Pope John Paul II never got tired of bashing the pre Vatican II Church, traditionalist and orthodox Catholics, praising heretics, Jews, and pagans without trying to bring them to Christ and the true Church. As a previous poster mentioned, JPII was a firm believer in the heresy of indifferentism and relativism, at the expense of the EX Cathedra dogmas of the Catholic church. The only Pope in my opinion that I have seen in my lifetime that was more revolutionary and anti tradition than Pope John Paul II was Paul VI.

I honestly don't get it. Pope John Paul II, bless his soul, reigned over one of Catholicism's darkest eras in history where tens of thousands, if not millions, of Catholics left the church, seminaries emptied, vocations shriveled, the real presence (and tabernacles) were pushed aside...basically the faith was watered down to a mere semblance of what was once glorious and triumphant Catholic culture. At this same time this Pope beatified so many people that one can scarcely keep track...a sainthood production line.
While overt sentimentality reigns in the granting of so many superlatives to this Pope, like "Great" , most of the damage to modern catholic life (especially in the USA) happened under his watch, especially the child abuse situation, which by all accounts was handle in the most appalling way...if handled at all.
don' get me wrong, I am not JPII bashing, I just don't think he deserves such consideration. Are we just "looking" for miracles to proclaim the inevitable sainthood?

What saddens me is that everyone is always looking for a miracle when in fact, they have been given to the world for thousands of years. Open your eyes and you will see that Pope John Paul II is a Saint and his beatification should be processed now!

Sorry to the guy from Sunland, California. Catholic doctrine would insist St. Peter the Apostle is the gratest of all the Popes. Not even John Paul II is as great or greater than St. Peter.

While I liked what JPII did with regard to weakening communism in Eastern Europe with President Reagan, I have serious concerns about canonizing JPII.
His looking the other way on the sex scandal, Cardinal Law, kissing the koran, Assisi one and two, his love of the misunderstood notion of promoting "religious freedom", relativism, indifferentism, "ecumenism", the first Pope in history to visit a Jewish "synagogue", the first to visit a Muslim "Mosque", "altar girls", catering to and watering down Catholic dogmas to the Jews and Protestants ETC. Sadly, he never stated the teachings of Christ and the dogmas of his Catholic Church which state that Jesus and the Catholic Church aren't A way to salvation, Jesus and his Catholic Church are the ONLY way to salvation!! Pope John Paul the II Requiescot in pace!

John-Paul II was the greatest of all the Popes, ever ! He reached out to everyone in love and yet he
was never shy about his faith and his love for the Blessed Mother.
Neither was Jesus, who worked his first miacle for his mother.John-Paul II walked in the footsteps of Jesus throughout his life.We need to
Cannonize him, not the master of the
ceremony.
