.- The Czech Bishops’ Conference has joined the chorus of protests against the Da Vinci Code book and movie, saying that the work’s author, Dan Brown, has smeared basic Christian symbols in order to gain publicity.

Conference spokesman Martin Horalek said, “Offending or trampling upon the religious sentiments of somebody in order to make money is simply despicable.” He pointed out that the Dan Brown book is an intentional attack on Christian sentiments and he compared it to the cartoons depicting Mohammed.

“The only difference is that Christians do not take to the streets, they do not use violence and they do no call for the death of Dan Brown,” he added.

Francisco Mata Marcano, director of the Opus Dei-affiliated University Center in Prague, also spoke out against the “Da Vinci Code.”  “In terms of its style, the book does keep you in suspense.  The problem is that it attacks the fundamental values of the Christian faith, of the Catholic faith.”

“The impact of this book could also be very positive,” he added, “as people may become interested in the person of Christ and seek out more information and thus arrive at the truth, which we find in Sacred Scripture.”

In terms of the confusion the book could cause in the Czech Republic, Marcano noted that since the book’s release there several months ago, there has not been any “unusual reaction.”

“While it was the most read book last year, I have not seen a significant reaction from people.  I think that the image of the Church that is conveyed in the schools of this country is already quite negative.  Therefore the book isn’t really saying anything new, in my opinion,” Marcano said.

I do not think this man Dan Brown can do any harm to the Lord. Over the centuries, many have come and tried their best, Christianity has been thru the mill and and still is, but, you can see that, this chruch is built on the rock and no storm can uproot it. Let us pray for such misguided people and I am certain the good Lord will have his way.

PRAISE TO THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE - LORD JESUS. AMEN.. WILFRED.

Good job by the Czech Bishops! At least they have the guts to tell their flocks NOT to see this piece of garbage that's called a movie! I agree with George from Canada-there are so many good Catholic books out there(especially by Saints such as Francis de Sales, Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, etc), so why are Catholics reading trash like 'The DaVinci Code'? Both the book and the film are out-and-out attacks against the Catholic Church! WAKE UP PEOPLE-FIGHT THIS TRASH! DON'T SEE THE MOVIE!

I'm glad the Bishops are standing up against this Brown fellow. But for two thousand years Jesus and his followers have endured unjust accusations and insults, they even crucified Jesus on false pretenses. So, we are no greater than our master, it makes sense that someone like Brown would make such an outrageously false movie about history, our beliefs and the ultimate truth.

The Czech Bishops are doing the right thing warning their flock about the Da Vinci Code. With so many great books written by Catholic Saints like St. Francis de Sales that will enrich you and teach you about the beaufiful mysteries of the Catholic faith, it is amazing how many people, especially Catholics are being deceived by the Da Vinci Code and its many errors and heresies about Jesus Christ and the Holy Roman Catholic Church. This book and movie is a full scale attack on the divinity of Jesus Christ and the Holy Roman Catholic Church. It will only cause confusion and fear in those who read this book or see this film. And we all know that confusion and fear does not come from God. So I urge all the faithful to not be deceived regardless of what you see or hear in the next few months. Let us all pray for wisdom and the love of Jesus Christ.
