.- The Bishopsâ Conference of Argentina offered its deepest condolences for the death of the country's former President Nestor Kirchner. The Argentinean leader died Oct. 27 from a massive heart attack at the Jose Formenti Hospital in the city of El Calafate.
âWe are filled with sorrow and profound sadness over his passing,â bishops' conference spokesman Father Jorge Oesterheld told the AICA news agency.
âThe Argentinean bishops and the entire Church pray for his eternal repose and for the (current) president and her family.â
The country's president, Cristina Fernandez, was married to Kirchner.
Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio offered Mass on Oct. 27 for Kirchner at the Cathedral of Buenos Aires.
