Benedict XVI one of the smartest Popes in history, former Vatican spokesman says

.- Joaquin Navarro-Valls, who was the Vatican's official spokesman for 22 years, said in an interview that the Church currently has one of the brightest popes in history, and that one of the most unique aspects of Benedict XVI is his confidence in the rationality of individuals. Speaking about Benedict XVI, he said he considers him "the Pope with the largest and most brilliant personal bibliography in all of Church history. His conceptual wealth is fascinating. And I think people also outside the Catholic circles are aware of it. " According to Navarro-Valls, the late Pope’s “character and person were not sufficiently known.” For example, he noted, John Paul II “had a very great sense of humor. Even when we had to deal with tragic problems never lost his positive view.” Subscriber comments:

Dear Sir: I am currently in R.C.I.A. in Baltimore as a catachumen. The Beatification of John Paul II appears obvious to me.
Sincerely,

Agreed! So was the guy before him. The Church is lucky. He is a fair pope who considers each and every viewpoint. In the end he shows all why Christ prevails and God is.

I agree with Navarro-Valls that Pope Benedict is certainly a pope with a most incisive mind, and probably after Pius XII,the brightest pope of our era.
However,if he thinks that relativism is a bad thing, why doesn't he then now admit that Vatican Two was a disaster?
After all, Vat.Two is full of it to please the Protestants, the Jews and other religions. But then Pope Ratzinger played a most important role in that notorious council and it is very difficult to acknowledge that one was wrong. We must pray for Benedict and especially vis-a-vis the pending discussions between Rome and the SSPX.

When Pope Bendict first became Pope after John Paul ll it was very hard to get to know him or really to like him....because we were all grieving....but, after the Pope made a trip to the U.S.A. I cried when he left....it was very emotional to me...and I then realized what a great Pope he is....God Bless Our Holy Father and please keep him safe and guard his health......
