Benedict XVI to visit tomb of Padre Pio in May

Rome, Italy, Dec 10, 2008 / 10:52 am (CNA).- On the feast of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, officials announced that Pope Benedict XVI will visit three Italian dioceses next year, including the diocese where San Giovanni Rotondo is located, the burial place of St. Pio de Pietrelcina or “Padre Pio.”

According to Vatican Radio, “The Pope will visit Cassino and the Abbey of Montecassino on May 24; on June 21, he will visit the shrine of San Giovanni Rotondo, where the tomb of Padre Pio is located and on September 6 he will visit Viterbo and Bagnoreggio.”

We'll be in San Giovanni when the Pope visits Padre Pio's tomb June 21, 2009...any other info. on the details of this particular Papal visit?

i WOULD LIKE TO ASK FROM THE POPE, IF WE ARE LAMBS WITHOUT A PASTOR. WE NEED CLARITY IN THE WORDS OF JESUS AND I PRAY TO PADRE PIO TO PRAY FOR US IN THIS TIMES OF GREAT TRIBULATION. WE NEED JESUS, WE NEED HIM NOW. IT HAVE BEEN TO LONG AND HUMANITY HAD LOST THE FAITH. MY MSTER AND MY LORD JESUS HAVE MERCY ON US. AMEN

St. Pio was a prophetic voice of the 20th century and such a holy man. Pope Benedict XVI is a prophetic voice of the 21st Century and will be a great saint. How I would love to be there so that I could be near St. Pio and our Holy Father. May all priests and bishops speak the truth as these holy men have.

It great news! I con-gratulate the Pope on his visit to the Abbey on May 24th. Padre Pio I know little about. I heard he helped soldiers in WW II. He appeared in the sky to warn them.

He appears in my church. I would appreciate knowing more about him.
