Chilean bishops announce project to bring laughter to earthquake victims

The bishops of Chile have announced a new campaign sponsored by Caritas Chile that will bring happiness and laughter to the country's earthquake victims through a series of performances throughout the country.

More than 30 comedians have already joined in the effort.

The first show will take place Wednesday in Santiago.  People are encouraged to bring non-perishable items that will be distributed to those in need.

Bishop Manuel Camilo Vial of Temuco and president of Caritas Chile, together with Chilean comedian Juan Carlos “Palta” Melendez announced the tour and noted that joy and good humor are necessary for those suffering at this time.
