The late Farrah Fawcett

.- Farrah Fawcett, a star of the television classic “Charlie’s Angels,” succumbed to cancer on Thursday after receiving last rites.

On Wednesday night a priest had been summoned to the Los Angeles hospital where the 62-year-old Fawcett was being treated for anal cancer, the New York Daily News says. Her struggle with the illness was chronicled in an NBC documentary.

The New York Daily News described Fawcett as a “devout Catholic.”

She and her longtime fiancé Ryan O’Neal had agreed to marry.

"Farrah is fighting for her life. But we will wed as soon as she can say yes,” Neal told Barbara Walters in a “20/20” interview before Fawcett’s death. “Maybe we can just nod her head.”

The two have a 24-year-old son, Redmond O’Neal.

Who are we to judge whether Farrah was a "devout" Catholic? It's clear from the mistakes she made that she, LIKE ALL OF US sinned. Only God knows what is in our hearts, and he forgives all who are truely sorry. Her return to The Church, before the end shows a sincere faith. May she rest in peace.

I also find it difficult to call Farrah a DEVOUT
Catholic, after reading the life she had led. But perhaps they are referring to her last years of bad health and pain - she turned to God who was there for her, of course. A Repentant Catholic might be the better description.

But who are we to judge?

RIP Farrah

First of all I dont condone sin.
I love the sinner but hate the sin.
Humbly and respectfully
I hope she made peace with the Lord before she passed.
She carried a Rosary and wore it.
I once saw an old series with Loretta Young.
She played a nun and a lady on there had a few kids but she admitted to Loretta Young (who played a nun)that she and her husband had never married.
The women was upset and beside herself.
Loretta got the priest.
The priest came to the room and married them.
Now what does this tell you respectfully and humbly?
Maybe Farrah would have married Ryan.
She was still one of our sisters.
I dont know but I hope that our Lady was there and our Lord.
I hope that she had reconciliation with the priest before she died.
If she is Catholic she knew.
My prayers are for Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmon who both have battles ahead I think.
I hope they become better people for this.
Secondly I read recently that a priest married several families because he noticed the kids were coming for communion but not the parents.
He found out none were married and he did this for them.
Again what does this tell you?
Im not judging anyone but you have to read and watch what the church teaches before you jump to conclusions.

RIP Farrah. Sometimes it takes a serious illness for one to allow the Holy Spirit to work in them. How are you to know she didn't fully embrace the Church and confess her sins? Praying to our merciful Lord for us all.

It always amazes me how willing people are to throw the first stone.

My prayers are with Farrah and her family; and I hope that charity will win over all the hearts of the world.

Farrah's death saddens me but those who would sit in judgement of her sadden me more. We are all sinners and only God can know what is in our hearts and judge us. Those who feel righteous in usurping His role, please reexamine your faith.

“she lived in sin… and had a child with him”…” Fawcett a "devout Catholic?" ,Good grief! What nonsense!!”

Luke 18:11 “..I am not as the rest of men, … adulterers,” Mathew 9:13 “… I will have mercy… For I am not come to call the just, but sinners.”

In the Roman Catholic faith, the last rites is the Sacrament of the sick and dying. The sick person confesses their sins and receives absolution from the priest who acts in the person of Christ; receives the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ; and is anointed with the Holy oils of Chrism which was used at their Baptism and Confirmation.

The Catholic Church as a Mother prays for all her children (the human race if they want it or not) and welcomes with open arms especially her baptized children when they repent and return to her even on their death beds. Luke 15:6 “And coming home, called together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.”

Farrah should have a funeral Mass. She made her peace with God and His Church. The Requiem Mass is the most beautiful way in which our Holy Mother Church sends off her children for the last time until the resurrection of the body which we believe in.

We Catholics should rejoice at the repentance of a sinner rather than criticize them bearing in mind that we too are sinners. We should thank God for His infinite goodness and great mercy and hope that we will also persevere until death in His grace.

One CAN become devout after committing mortal sin and still living with the temporal consequences of it.

Eternal rest grant to her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace.

God grants his grace to whoever he chooses, how fortunate that he chose to grant the final sacrament to Farrah. Like the vineyard workers who came late she will be paid the same wages as those who worked the full day. Let us not be jealous but instead praise God for his mercy and ask for mercy ourselves. Devout or not she will inherit a place in the kingdom of God.If we are devout Catholics we will pray for her and all our dearly departed brothers and sisters. Peace be with you all.

Do not condem anyone, like those holier than thou types. You know who you are. I would rather consider Farrah a devout catholic than point out her sins, That's for God to judge!

Sad that people are judging Farah's faith in God and Church. We can't look into her soul and say she was living in sin with Ryan O'Neal. There's always the possiblity they were just living under the same roof. Judge not, lest you be judged. Just pray for her and Ryan and Redmond.

I find it odd that you should quote the New York Daily News as calling the late Farrah Fawcett "a devout Catholic"--she lived in sin with a man, and even had a child with him--making me wonder how some people define "devout".
