Hillary Clinton leaves flowers for Our Lady of Guadalupe, asks ‘Who painted it?’

.- During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image. The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay. Mrs. Clinton was received on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. by the rector of the Basilica, Msgr. Diego Monroy. Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion. After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!” Clinton then told Msgr. Monroy that she had previously visited the old Basilica in 1979, when the new one was still under construction. After placing a bouquet of white flowers by the image, Mrs. Clinton went to the quemador –the open air area at the Basilica where the faithful light candles- and lit a green candle. Leaving the basilica half an hour later, Mrs. Clinton told some of the Mexicans gathered outside to greet her, “you have a marvelous virgin!” This evening Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to receive the highest award given by Planned Parenthood Federation of America -- the Margaret Sanger Award, named for the organization's founder, a noted eugenicist. The award will be presented at a gala event in Houston, Texas. Subscriber comments:

I think it's wonderful that Hilary took time from her busy schedule to visit Our Lady Of Guadalupe and try to learn about the Catholic Church. I think it was a beautiful gesture to bring white flowers for the Virgin and if all that are writing comments are true Catholics why are they throwing stones? I truly believe she was honestly asking questions. The Catholic Church is very different from all other churches and not easy to understand. I once had a Priest tell me that not even he knew everything there is to know about the Catholic Church.

I was raised Catholic, attended parochial schools, and even Notre Dame University. I thought I was completely familiar with the events surrounding this miracle. But somehow, the fact that this image was on Juan's cloak escaped me. I only remembered the flowers. Surely Hillary can be excused for her lack of understanding?

Forget the judging and nasty comments of ingnorance. We catholics should see this as a magnificent day, that Hilary took time out of her day to visit the Blessed Mother! Something must have inspired and lit up her heart to pay a visit. This is more than us catholics could ask for. Lets pray and hope that she converts her heart.

Did you not understand that God planned this visit? Nothing is coincidental. There was and is a plan and HE knows what it is. Mrs. Clinton could have said, "No" to the visit and then could have went straight to collect the Sanger Award. But she said, "YES" to the visit. I believe that God let a small miracle take place, so small that even WE could not see it!

Hillary Rodham Clinton is from Chicago, IL, one of the largest Roman Catholic populations in the US, not to mention a very significant Hispanic population, too. Her total ignorance of Catholicism in Latin America is unacceptable--her following up this visit to the Basilica with an acceptance of a Margaret Sanger Award was calculated as a deliberate insult to Catholics and Christians everywhere, not to mention blacks and hispanics who know Sanger as a racist eugenics supporter. She and Obama know exactly who they offend and why, and they are smug and arrogant about it because they are the darlings of the mainstream media. This is nothing more than an example of the Empresses' New Clothes--the empress being Hillary Clinton.

robin, not only does birth control make problems worse, poverty does not necessitate abortion. Women have a higher death rate during abortions than they do during birth. Why do you treat children like objects and property? Why do you have no concern for the true actual health of the mother? Please, read up on what atrocities abortion causes, both for the children and parents.

To the person who commented on the end of human sacrifice in Mexico. You might want to check the stats on the number of women in Mexico (and all of South America and Central America) who die every year through botched back alley abortions necessitated by poverty, lack of birth control, and lack of legal abortion. Brought to the women of Latin American by your local Catholic oligarchy.

Pro Life is not exclusively Catholic; it’s not even necessarily a religious issue – hey, it’s a Life issue and should be the natural default position of every person in the world. And re the painting being lowered for Ms Clinton … isn’t that just like Mary – coming down to meet each of us where we are - where we can see her more clearly – if we just make the effort to look!

Yes, we should pray for Hillary Clinton. I'm told that she was very fond of Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta.
The comments that say that there's nothing unusual about Hillary Clinton not knowing about the image are absurd. Of course she should have known about the image, or at the very least her aides should have informed her. She's the Secretary of State of the United States. You think she doesn't have handlers and people who brief her on the places she visits? But be that as it may, she didn't know. Let's just hope that the image touches her heart and that she converts. We all are sinners, and we must show love and Christian compassion for even the most bitter enemies of the Faith.

Part of the passage, and it was part of the message at church a few weeks ago, also talks about how you will know a tree by the fruit bears. A Reverend at a church I formerly attended once told me when I asked about "judging" others told me that we aren't supposed to judge others but that doesn't stop us from being fruit inspectors! Something to think about. Now, all you liberals go on out and support killing innocent future taxpayers in the womb and sleep well! I'll just pray harder and more often for you.

If it was painted by God, I am amazed that God does not have a better artistic technique. Since God knows how the original Mary appeared, it is odd that the image is so lacking in realistic detail. Apparently it is easier for God to create great artists than to produce great art. Or maybe we should get real and acknowledge that this is a representation serving the political/religious goal of drawing indigenous people to the Catholic Church.

"Judge not lest ye be judged........" So misunderstood and so rapidly deployed by nonbelievers who wish to say and do what they want irresponsibly. Read the Book. God sets limits and provides guidelines. It is a matter of faith that we accept them. The verse reminds us to be sure we have the moral high ground before we chastise another; in essence making the judgement call hypocrite proof. Honestly; if we were not to judge one another then why would God bother to give us a code of behavior? Something to think about..... after all, I am my brother's keeper; to neglect this is a sin in itself.

We weren’t all born Mexican or Catholics. Here in the US we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and we think of leprechauns and not of a Saint. We don't know the Irish story. We are not born knowing other countries myths, legends, and beliefs. I think it was admirable and honest to have honored our Lady of Guadalupe with flowers. The question "who painted it?" itself makes it more honest to me because she didn’t research our Lady before honoring her with flowers just to look good in all of the Mexican eyes.

I'm probably wrong too because I'm sure you guys are know it alls and have never asked a question that may seem stupid to others. Hillary didn't do anything wrong and abortion is not religious, but it's not her fault if women decide to abort or not. To non-christian (and others complaining about the response on this thread),
You need to read the rest of that passage. It's from John 8:7-12. After Jesus says that to the men wanting to stone the women, he ask her if anybody has condemed her. She says No and he replies "Neither do I. Go now and sin NO more." The whole purpose of that passage is to teach people that God and God alone can condemn people. We are not to condemn people. But that doesn't not mean that we can not call something sinfull that is objectively speaking sinfull. We can do this and we must do this. This easily has to be the most misunderstood and misused passage in the bible and seamingly the only passage that people who are non Christian know. Hilary Clinton's support for abortion is objectivly sinfull and we can an should say that, we should also oppose it. To Catholics, it also seems very odd that she (or someone on her staff) wouldn't have researched a little bit about the Image of our Lady before visiting it and risk offending many faithfull Catholics or at least looking uninformed. It was something easy to do on her part, the fact that she didn't says something.

Re:tonto message. Whether you think that Mexico doesn't have a police dept or any military. You should know that there is still honest Mexicans trying to stop the violence and clean the corruption. There is more than violence in Mexico. There are beautiful parts and people. Also, if you want to joke about GOD & our Virgin of Guadalupe by saying "why we don't ask GOD to draw a map of the Cartels". You should be know that people are finally putting their foot forward and want to stop the violence and the corruption. GOD can only help us if we take the first step to help ourselves!! Those that complain about Hillary's question, should be ashamed! Not everyone is born Mexican or Catholic. She took her time to honor our Lady with flowers because she understands that Our Virgin of Guadalupe is who guides us Mexicans and she's where we put our faith apart from GOD. If you don't believe that faith is what guides us, then I don't know what else keeps families going with all this chaos.

It's too bad so many Catholics are brainwashed and don't know how to think for themselves. Just because Senator Clinton may not share your beliefs or knowledge about "all things Catholic" does not make her a bad person or a bad leader. Neither does her conviction that no government should control a woman's right to a legal and safe abortion. Senator Clinton has fought for universal healthcare and for rights for children and the poor for most of her adult life. Jesus told us not to judge others unless our slate was clean - and I am astonished at how many Catholic people are so quick to judge others these days. I think God would be upset and disappointed in these Catholics who judge others this quickly but quite proud indeed of Hilary, who is, after all, His child, too.

Yes, we have a beatiful Virgin, who said yes to God and carried our Lord and Saviour in her womb.
When our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego, she appeared as a native aztec who was pregnant with Jesus. I hope Mrs. Clinton has had a conversion experience. I pray that the culture of death will be converted into a culture of life. All issues are null and void of purpose or meaning if life in the womb is destroyed. Let the babies live. Planned Parenthood is a promoter of the culture of death. They are the number one provider of abortion services in the United States. We pray for the conversion of Planned Parenthood, from an organization that promotes death, to an organization that promotes true parenthood and promotes the sanctity of all life at all stages, born and unborn. Seeing the picture of Hillary Clinton near the Tilma makes me think that at Hillary's death bed, I know the Virgin Mother will come to her and ask her if she accepts her Son as her Lord and Savior and I do believe that these visits will melt her heart from the sins that she stands for publicly. God forgive her for she knows not what she is doing. I pray for grace for her to admit the truth in life issues. Where sin abounds, grace abounds greater! My prayer is that in her deepest moment of despair, when she sees her empty life, she will reach out to Jesus through Mary and she will also remember the words that Mother Theresa spoke to both her and her husband about life issues. When her father was dying and brought to the hospital, she realized about universal health care, that he would have just laid in a corner on a stretcher without care beause of his age
and not worth saving. When something affects you directly, suddenly our perspective changes. He who humbles himself shall be exalted, he who exalts hiself shall be humbled. Jesus, Mary save her soul, she is your child.

I truly feel sorry for Hillary Clinton apparently Our Blessed Mother did not make much of an impression on her when she visited the old Basilica in 1979. How thoughtless of her to admit her ignorance to Msgr. Monroy. One would have thought that planning to visit the Basilica again, she would have done some review on it before embarrassing herself with such a statement. But then why would she want to clutter her mind with Our Lady's Miracle in Mexico when she herself is touted as Queen defender of ABORTION which is contrary to Our Ladies work in Mexico. Being slated to receive the Margaret Sanger Award, the highest honor of the Abortion movement here in the USA, must make Hillary feel vindicated for her stand and perhaps helps afford her the path for a clear conscience on the killing of millions of unborn babies.
What honor is there in any award, especially for support of Abortion, which is contrary to the will of God, His daughter Mary, the mother of His Divine Son and the Son Jesus Christ Himself.

"Who painted it?" Hillary cannot possibly be so ignorant can she?" This had to have been a calculated statement. Especially given the increasingly apparent anti-Catholic/Christ/Life position of the usurper/apostate Obama Administration. I find it most interesting how Our Lady continues to expose them for what they really are. It seems that everywhere they confront the Truth they are met with the cross.
