Mary is the star that guides us to holiness, says Holy Father during Angelus
Related articles:
.- Presiding over the Sunday Angelus following the canonization Mass for five new saints, Pope Benedict XVI stressed that "the Virgin Mary is the star that guides" us in every "area of holiness." The Pope thanked the faithful from all around the world who traveled to Rome for the canonization Mass and remarked that Mary’s fiat, her "yes," makes her a "model of perfect adherence to the divine will." In his words to the English-speaking pilgrims, the Holy Father said, "May these new saints accompany you with their prayers and inspire you by the example of their holy lives." He also addressed "a group of survivors of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki," and prayed "that the world may never again witness such mass destruction of innocent human life." "May God bless all of you, as well as your families and loved ones at home," he continued. Subscriber comments:

Paul never changed the sabbath day to Sunday. He simply called a meeting on a Sunday. Paul continued to preach on Saturday, God's Sabbath and memorial to creation. The Revelation of Jesus to John was written about 95AD on the Island of Patmos. God informs us in scripture that he makes things clear to his prophets. If God had wanted man to change His Divine Commandments He would have left no doubt. It is interesting that the fourth Commandment is the only one that starts "Remember" (the Sabbath day to keep it holy...) because he knew it was the one we would forget. The Catholic church has also deleted the second Commandment. We should not put ourselves above God.

To Roger and Wayne,
Mary was chosen by God to come into the world through her. She had the free will, as we all do, to say yes or no to God's will. What man is not honored when his mother is honored and loved? She is our model and example of perfect Christianity. If we can go to each other for prayer and intercession, couldn't we also ask the intercession of Jesus' mother? I pray that you will love her as much as her Son Jesus did.

Sterbenc: St Paul changed the meeting day from the Sabbath to the first day of the week, Sunday, because Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday. And St Paul was never a pope, but he was instructed in the Third Heaven. Do you have a problem with this? The Pope did not exalt Blessed Mary Ever Virgin to a deity, but points out that she is the most highly exalted creature ... or do you think you hold equal status with her? Jesus said to eat His Body ... if you would obey Jesus who is God, then maybe you wouldn't entertain such absurd ideas.

wayne, take another look at the part of Scripture which you are referring to. Blessed Mary Ever Virgin said yes and then the she became pregnant. Next time before you differ, make sure you actually know what Scripture says.

2 wayne: I think the more accurate statement would be that Mary was without sin and so "in-tune" with God that she could not help but have her will be in conformance to God's will. It was still her 100% free choice to bear Christ. In general, God does not over-rule our free will because that would be "rape". He will only woo us.
2 rob: Eh, I think it would do you well to study Catholic theology before hurling insults at the Blessed Mother. Biblical support for the papacy is reasonable (Matt 16:18, 1 Tim 3:15). Catholics don't worship Mary. The sacrifice of the Holy Mass is only offered to God, not to anyone else.

The pope is putting Mary in the place of
Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Jesus
is our only intercessor. Besides changing the Sabbath from Saturday
to Sunday, the papacy utters yet another of the many forms of blasphemy that the pope speaks in his great words
against the Most High in Daniel 7 and
Revelation 13.

hi, i beg to differ about Mary saying yes to god. i know that is central to catholic ideology. but the bible dosent see it that way. Mary was the last person alive in the Davidic line. she was going to have the saviour like it or not. Mary didnt give god permission to put the seed in her. the angel informed MARY that she was with child. my god is ruler in heaven and earth. he doesnt as humans for permission to do anything. thanks
