I can personally vouche for the fidelity of this man. I worked for him for 2 years as a student doing mail/copying/errands. He is a very holy man and is very committed to the faith. I graduated in 2009 with his son, and can vouche for the truth of Justin's comment, as well. I consider him one of the few people whose fidelity I can trust without reservation.

Sam, you're just plain wrong on this one.
Dr. Cavadini is a man of true character, as evidenced by the fact that he was just knighted by the outgoing bishop of the diocese of Ft. Wayne/South Bend, Most Rev. John D'Arcy because of their close friendship and Cavadini's faithfulness to the Church and her teachings.
So great was Dr. Cavadini's fidelity that he refused to attend the commencement exercises this past spring at Notre Dame despite the fact that his own son was graduating.
Please get your facts straight.

Prof Cavadini was one of several professors (Kmiec, etc) who endorsed Obama in 2008 as an acceptable "pro-life" candidate for Catholics to vote for. He may be a medieval scholar but I question his judgement on the most important moral issue of our day: abortion.

I don't know much about this selection. I hope this choice is a better reflection of Notre Dame than the ND president who had President Obama speak at commencement (What a shame!). Fidelity counts! When judgment day comes, God is going to ask you only one question: Were you faithful?
