Obama misled Pope on his abortion agenda, congressman charges
![]() President Barack Obama / Pope Benedict XVI

.- In remarks on the House floor last week, Congressman Chris Smith argued that President Obama purposely misled Pope Benedict XVI when he said that he “wants to reduce abortion” at their July 10 meeting. Smith recalled the president's statement to the Pope and pointed out that Obama has repeated it several times to different audiences. And yet, Smith charged, Obama’s actions have not aligned with his words. “He says one thing and does precisely the opposite.” Now, the New Jersey Congressman said, Obama is offering a plan for health care reform that is a thinly veiled attempt to increase access to abortion on demand. The plan would increase funding for abortions and allow abortion services to be considered part of “basic health care” required by all insurance plans, including private plans. Smith pointed to information from the Guttmacher Institute, which has stated that “when taxpayer funding is not available, between 20 and 35 percent of Medicaid abortions that would have been procured simply don't occur.” These children go on to be born, he explained, referencing the millions of children throughout the country who are able to live their own lives and pursue their own hopes and dreams “because taxpayer subsidies didn't effectuate their demise.” “The ugly truth is that if his so-called health care reform care bill, if enacted, will lead to millions of additional deaths to children and millions of mothers will be wounded,” Smith said. Rep. Smith concluded his remarks by encouraging his fellow congressmen to vote against the health care bill and insisting that “[t]here will be children who will die if this legislation becomes law simply because the subsidies are there to effectuate their deaths.” Subscriber comments:

I pray daily and offer my Masses that President Obama will not force Americans to fund abortions with our money. This is evil and it saddens me to the depth of my soul and conscience.
Please help me stop this evil plan before it is too late to do so.

I don't know why the Pope could be misled as Mr. Obama is obviously an instrument of Satin - no other leader of modern times has destroyed as much as he has.

God Bless Rep. Smith for having the courage to speak to his fellow congressmen in the defense of the unborn! It is no news that Obama, the world's foremost abortionist, desires to use taxpayer funds to pay for abortions.
Let us pray that other representatives will also hear the Call of Christ as Rep. Smith has, and heed their hearts and oppose the murder of the unborn!

Rep. Smith has been a strong voice for the unborn. He speaks where others choose to stay quiet. I would like to hear more from my Represenative, Jim Oberstar on this issue. He writes letters back to me stating that he is not for abortion, but I never hear him speak publicly like Rep. Smith. As Elie Wiesel once said, "Our obligation is to give meaning to life and in doing so to overcome the passive, indifferent life."

It is those cardinals who brought Obama to the Holy Father at fault. They have conspired with Obama to deceive the Pope. Telling the Catholics that he is trying to reduce abortion by overwhelmingly funding abortion with our tax money is the same as saying trying to reduce pornagraphy by funding the making of pornagraphy. It is absurd and it does not make sense. Why do these cardinals endorse Obama? Especially the Dominican Theologian, Cardinal Cottier, he views Obama as great as Emperor Constantine. Go figure...

Muslims are allowed to mislead and to deceive, especially when dealing with "the Other". I'm sure His Holiness knew what he was dealing with. He already has several of them working for him.

Obama sees nothing wrong with abortion so why would he want to reduce the number of abortions? All he wants to do is to make Catholics think he is against abortion with his "reduce abortion" statement. Unfortionately, too many gullible Catholics fall for this lie. Look at his cabinet appointments, all pro-abortion. Obama is the most pro-abortion person that ever lived.

Saying that the Pope was mislead implies that he believed what Obama was saying. Pope Benedict is a smart man and can probably tell when someone is telling a big lie especially when there is evidence all over the place that one's words don't match his actions.
At the same time, Obama is not Catholic so the Pope is not his spiritual leader. The Pope can't approach the topic of abortion as Obama's superior, but as an equal head-of-state. And that means stating your position, not agitating the other party, and praying that they get the point. Obama hasn't mislead anyone. He has lied repeatedly and people have allowed themselves to be mislead by ignoring the evidence and the facts.

Obama is sweet vinegar for the Pope,"Buyer beware"! He's got a great smile,Obama,Thats it! Who would want to pay for an abortion when the government will do it. Too bad Obama didn't offer to pay for the Pope's recent wrist surgery. That might have represented money well spent constructively for the betterment of a life. Oh well! It's on the taxpayers who cares! The taxpayers even if they care how their money is spent, they can't. The government dictates all it's favored agendas. Abortion=population control and the thinning out of undesirables such as poor people and the mentally unfit. It is contraception for teenagers who were never taught morals or chastity. The list goes on and on at every turn abortion is poor-choice for the world without love.
