U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon

.- Following the beginning of the World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (WCAR) in Geneva on Monday, the Russian Orthodox Church has asked the conference to introduce the idea of “Christianophobia” into international laws concerning discrimination.

"It is very important to the Russian Orthodox Church to raise the issue of introducing to the list of threats the notion of Christianophobia in addition to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia," Archpriest Georgy Ryabykh, deputy head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, told Interfax-Religion. At the conference’s opening ceremony, the archpriest said, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon mentioned anti-Semitism and Islamophobia but did not “say a single word about Christianophobia.”

Archpriest Gregory said there were many examples of “violations of Christians' rights, insults of their feelings [and] public distortion of the Christian teaching” which put “the notion of Christianophobia” into international circulation.

Christians are law abiding and respectful of the rights of all. If they are not than they are simply not Christian. People like this deserve protection as well as any group that truly respects the rights of others peacefully. Against violence and deliberate disrespect for God and his creation should be a basic protection for any group. Respect is peace. Most social phobias are deliberately induced for various social and political agendas and have done too much harm.

Well done Archpriest Georgy Ryabykh.

Christianity has been persecuted for so many thousand years in the world. It is about time to make laws protecting the Christians. Thank you, Russian Orthodox Church.

It is about time that the the mocking, abuse and mistreatment of christians be addressed at the U.N. and christians leaders and politicians should also take notice of this and not turn a deaf hear or close their eyes to this very pressing issues which may explode further.

Well done Russian Orthodox Church.

Though we should be careful of asking a secular body to look after our needs. I feel the Church should do more to assert itself and blow its own trumpet on the world stage. After all, Christ and therefore His bride the Church are the only things we can legitimitly boast about. It says so in the Holy Bible. So let's do some boasting with gusto!!
