.- While relief agencies struggled to secure permission to bring food, medicine, and shelter to the 2.4 million cyclone victims in Myanmar, the United Nations Population Fund  (UNFPA) was allowed to deliver a shipment of thousands of condoms to the region.

More than 133,000 people are dead or missing in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, which struck Myanmar on May 2.  The junta ruling Myanmar has resisted accepting foreign disaster aid, granting foreign helicopters permission to distribute aid only on Wednesday.

The UNFPA is shipping to Myanmar reproductive health kits which include razors for cutting umbilical cords, clean sheets for delivering babies, and contraceptive pills and shots to last 3,390 women for three months, the Independent Online reports.

A shipment designed to serve 200,000 to 300,000 people arrived in Yangon by commercial cargo flight on May 10, according to the UNFPA web site.  The UNFPA says it has shipped more than 70,000 condoms to survivors.

"We don't want regular use of contraception disrupted. An emergency usually damages the health system, so people don't have access to condoms and contraceptives," said UNFPA aid advisor Chaiyos Kunanusont.

According to the Independent Online, Chaiyos said a total of 218,400 condoms will be delivered.

Aid groups have complained that limits imposed by Myanmar’s ruling government are hindering the provision of vital supplies to survivors.

Nothing can better demonstate the necessity to eliminate UNFPA and its activities than its very actions--what a colossal waste of funds is this UN monstrosity.

Contraceptives are as necessary to us as cars and computers. Without them, we would have to radically change the way we live. Of course people are going to think about condoms at a time like this.
Also, humanitarian aid agencies believe in eliminating poverty. The easiest way to do that is to eliminate people who are poor. Without a clear grasp of the truth of the human person, this is the most reasonable thing an aid agency can do. Certain evangelical groups (e.g. World Vision) give out and teach about contraceptives in their work, and most doctors in the U.S. who are practicing Catholics have also caved in to this contraceptive mentality. It is uncommon to find a Catholic doctor who won't prescribe the pill.

The UN is a joke. It was a joke when I served in the U.S. military. A prime example of their stupidity is what happened in Ruwanda. They don't care about people, but merely exploit poor countries. They push contraceptives every chance they get, but hide their activities with other functions. The UN is concerned with disrupting the cycle of regular of use of these demonic devices...hmmm...lets see here...hundereds of thousands are dead and what they need is to limit the population? How about making more efforts through ASEAN to get some those dead corpses that are all over the place cleaned up because disease is going to spread like wild fire. I wouldn't worry about contraceptives being given out if I were the UN because at the rate progress is going in Myanmar lots more people are going die. Sure, be can put lots of blame on Myanmar's government, but condoms and contraceptives are the last things those people need on the ground. But what can one expect from the UN? As for those of you who think the UN is really great, do some research and find out their policies about contraception, etc. and see if you still think they are really great.

Sadly, not the first time this sort of thing has happened. Unfortunately won't be the last.

What burmese man can think of condoms when he's starving to death?
