Judge Sonia Sotomayor / Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC)

.- Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s views on abortion law and the unborn were topics in several of her meetings with U.S. Senators. One pro-life senator reports that Sotomayor told him she had never thought about the rights of the unborn, while a pro-abortion senator says that she clearly acknowledged to him “the importance of precedent.”

On Tuesday Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) discussed his meeting with Sotomayor.
“We had a good meeting that covered a wide array of issues and Judge Sotomayor was very personable and engaging. However, I didn’t hear anything today that eased my concerns,” he said.

“When I asked if an unborn child has any rights whatsoever, I was surprised that she said she had never thought about it,” Sen. DeMint reported. “This is not just a question about abortion, but about the respect due to human life at all stages, and I hope this is cleared up in her hearings.”

“Those who serve on the highest court in America must have an unwavering commitment to the Constitution and equal justice for all Americans,” he said.

Sen. DeMint also expressed concern about her views on the Second Amendment, which protects the right to bear arms.

On June 2, Sotomayor had a meeting with Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), who supports legalized abortion. After the meeting, Sen. Feinstein said she felt comfortable that Sotomayor supports the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade as a precedent.

The nominee also met with Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on June 3. A supporter of abortion, Wyden told reporters he was “very pleased” that Judge Sotomayor has indicated in the past that she possesses “a great respect for precedent,” Politico says.

He reportedly said he asked specifically about abortion and Roe v. Wade, after which “she acknowledged the importance of precedent… She made that very clear.”

Never thought about the "rights of the unborn"? And this is Obamas nominee for the Supreme Court?

Shouldn't be any news here as Obama has no concern for the rights of the unborn either. The main reason Obama gave for selecting and Sotomayor was that she shared his views on everything. Obviously this includes his lack of regard for the sanctity of life and just help to perpetrate his agenda of an entirely secular state. Sotomayor fits right into this. Obama may claim her as a "Catholic" appointee in an attempt to appease us Catholics, but hopefully we will see this this charade!

What we can is pray fervently that Christ touch the heart of Ms Sotomayor to regain her Catholic faith and become a defender of the "rights of the unborn!"

The biggest rights issue in the 20th and 21st century, and she hasn't even thought about it???? I don't care where she stands on it, that she hasn't even thought about it ought to disqualify her immediately.

It is a scary thought that she hasn't thought about the rights of the unborn at her age. After all she is over 50 and a woman.

Otherwise, she is hoping to dance around the issue of abortion. Too bad there has to be this litmus test.

And, it is too bad that precedent assumes some thing should never be changed - like a BAD precedent that isn't good law. A right made out of nowhere.

Sotomayor has never thought of the rights of the unborn?

What planet has she been living on?

You can be sure President Obama vetted her views on abortion before selecting her. Now, she denies having any.

A brilliant career ahead.

Another elitist Catholic, but for pc with her upcoming U.S. Senate hearings, says: "I really never thought about the unborn." Our Supreme Court nominee is Cathholic. This makes this statement obserd.

look, she is better than a Souter. No question about it. Yes, being matters. She's not a Ginsburg. Deo Gratias. Yes, for confirmation.

She is the the product of a person who is being tutored to say whatever is appropriate the get a "position"on the supreme court. She represents another "political victory" of choice for the current president. If Sotomayor has never really thought about the rights of the unborn, being the fact that "she"is a woman, that is the premiere example of a completely ignorant individual! Heaven help us all! "HERE COMES THE JUDGE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with eyes and ears can see and hear satan at work in all of these proponents of infanticide.

Folks, this is not a battle simply of ideologies...this is a battle with satan himself...and the sooner we fully understand that fact we can attack the REAL enemy who is behind this human spiritual disease.

The next time you look into the eyes of an abortion supporter (cloaked as a woman's right to choose) notice the zealous look of conviction.

THAT is satan in control.

He can be stopped if we pray hard for these poor lost souls.

We must also not be afraid to educate our youth and fight the ideological battles with Christ at our lead.

It is hard to beleive that she has never even considered the rights of the unborn. She clearly shares Pres. Obama's lack of respect for the sanctity of life.
