For the last three years, the morning-after pill has been distributed to French women without a prescription and to minors for free. The French magazine La Vie (Life) broke the news.

Since March 2001, nurses in colleges and high schools have given the morning-after pill to girls “in distress.” About 800,000 boxes of Norlevo (the morning-after pill) were sold in France last year, about 80,000 of them were distributed to adolescents.

Despite these high numbers, the number of medical abortions performed in France in the same time period has not decreased.
