Rylko, Stanislaw*

Stanislaw Rylko (born July 4, 1945 in Adrychów, Poland) was ordained a priest of Kraków, Poland on March 30, 1969. In 1995, he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Novica by John Paul II.

Eight years later, he was made President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, a position which he ceased to hold on February 28, 2013 upon the retirement of Pope Benedict XVI.

On November 24, 2007 he was elevated to cardinal, and on May 30, 2008 he was installed as Cardinal-Deacon of Sacro Cuore di Cristo Re. In addition to his native language of Polish, he also speaks Italian, English and German.
