Martínez Sistach, Lluís* :: Catholic News Agency

Luís Cardinal Martínez Sistach is the current Archbishop of Barcelona and Cardinal-Priest of S. Sebastiano alle Catecombe. He was born on April 29,1937 in Barcelona, Spain and ordained to the priesthood September 17, 1961. In 1987, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Barceloa and Titular Bishop of Aliezira. Four years later he was installed Bishop of Tostosa. In 1999 he was made Archbishop of Tarragona, Spain and finally returned to Barcelona as Archbishop in 2004. Within three years he was elevated to Cardinal and installed on January 20, 2008.
