Catholics university students in Hong Kong are joining their voices to the widespread protests against a now-suspended proposal to permit extraditions to mainland China.
"Many young people fear that the amendment will violate our freedom," said Edwin Chow, acting president of the Hong Kong Federation of Catholic Students.
"They believe that if we do not act right now, we will never have a chance again. They want to protect their home," he told ucanews.
Carrie Lam, Hong Kong's chief executive, recently introduced a bill that would allow for secret arrests and extraditions to mainland China, where Communist courts would try alleged criminals.
