Although the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has already passed this year, Catholics still have the opportunity to celebrate this devotion throughout the month of June. Just as May is dedicated to Mary, the Church designates June for the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The devotion goes back centuries in the Church, but it was St. Margaret Mary Alacoque’s visions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that helped popularize it in the Western Church. In these visions, Christ expressed his love for all humanity and his suffering caused by man’s indifference to him.
