We were intrigued by REI’s announcement last week that they will “close its doors on Black Friday (November 27) at all 143 of its retail locations, headquarters and two distribution centers.”

They will still pay their employees for the day, but they are encouraging all of them to spend the day outdoors as part of their #OptOutside campaign on Black Friday instead of shopping.
