Daily Readings:

First Option

  • First Reading

    Acts 18:23-28

23After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phryg'ia, strengthening all the disciples. 24Now a Jew named Apol'los, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the scriptures. 25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aq'uila heard him, they took him and expounded to him the way of God more accurately. 27And when he wished to cross to Acha'ia, the brethren encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, 28for he powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.

  • Responsorial Psalm

    Psalms 47:2-3, 8-10

1Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! 2For the LORD, the Most High, is terrible, a great king over all the earth. 7For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! 8God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. 9The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!

  • Gospel

    John 16:23-28

23In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. 24Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. 25"I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father. 26In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; 27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father. 28I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."

Second Option

  • First Reading

    Acts 4:8-12

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders, 9if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a cripple, by what means this man has been healed, 10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well. 11This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the head of the corner. 12And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

  • Responsorial Psalm

    Psalms 40:2, 4, 7-11

1I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. 3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD. 6Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire; but thou hast given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. 7Then I said, "Lo, I come; in the roll of the book it is written of me; 8I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my heart." 9I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; lo, I have not restrained my lips, as thou knowest, O LORD. 10I have not hid thy saving help within my heart, I have spoken of thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness from the great congregation.

  • Gospel

    Luke 9:57-62

57As they were going along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." 58And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." 59To another he said, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 60But he said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God." 61Another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but let me first say farewell to those at my home." 62Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."

Third Option

    Psalms 145:1-6, 21

1I will extol thee, my God and King, and bless thy name for ever and ever. 2Every day I will bless thee, and praise thy name for ever and ever. 3Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4One generation shall laud thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5On the glorious splendor of thy majesty, and on thy wondrous works, I will meditate. 6Men shall proclaim the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness. 21My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

  • Gospel

    John 14:12-17

12"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. 13Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; 14if you ask anything in my name, I will do it. 15"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever, 17even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you.
