Hi, I’m Jenny.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
A few things about me to get you started:
I’m a wife, a mother, and a writer. My husband Dave and I live in Denver with our growing brood of little people – 4 last I counted – and a cat named Pia, after Padre Pio. We like drinking margaritas, reading silently side by side (introverts of the world unite. Separately!), wrestling our kids on the living room floor, and taking the occasional trip to Rome. We both work for the Church, and we have been blessed with the most incredible community of family and friends.
I studied psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Please observe the resultant identity crisis as evidenced by my ardent love for Catholicism and lifelong affinity for craft beer and the Dave Matthews Band. Dave and I met in a bar 9 years ago, introduced by fellow FUS alums with a hunch.
It was a good hunch.
For a while we lived in Rome, which was hard but good. Take a stroll through the archives if you’re looking for travel advice, info on planning and navigating a trip to the Vatican, or tales of extreme car-less grocery shopping with toddlers.
St. John Paul II, whose beatification and canonization we were blessed to be able to attend as a family, was – and continues to be – my great intercessor and patron saint. He brought me home to the Church when he died, and I will be forever grateful to him and reliant upon his powerful intercession.
Sometimes I write about good stuff that’s hard, or hard stuff that’s hard, and it touches a nerve for people. I’m never trying to be offensive, but sometimes it’s effortless, you know?
Sorry about that. I mean, not sorry enough to change my writing style, but, you know, sorry about the discomfort. I firmly believe that honest and authentic dialogue is possible, even on the internet. And not only possible, but deeply necessary for the ongoing conversion and for the revitalization of our culture.
So that’s what I’m doing here.
I love that you stopped by, and I hope you’ll keep coming back.
I’d love to answer each and every comment I receive, but … life. Still, if you have a question or a speaking request, email me at mamaneedsco[email protected]
