.- In an interview with “Christopher Closeup,” a radio show for the media apostolate The Christophers, Jim Caviezel described both the deep fear he felt when adopting two children with brain tumors, and the joy he and his wife have received from doing the will of Christ. Caviezel, best known in Christian circles for his role as Jesus in Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ”, has been committed to his Catholic and pro-life beliefs for a while. When he was challenged to prove his faith by adopting a disabled child, he and his wife, Kerri, traveled to China where they adopted a five-year old boy who was living in an orphanage. Caviezel recalled that he was “completely terrified” at the possibility of adopting a child with a disability, but deep within his soul, he knew that God wanted him to do it. He compared the fear he felt at the prospect of adopting a child to other “fearful” times in his life. Caviezel explained that in some of the “most important decisions” in his life, he has experienced a “huge fear” and found that he needed to trust God through his faith. The boy, Bo, had been abandoned on a train as an infant and was raised in the orphanage where they children were told that they did not have a mother. Instead, orphanage workers told them they were born out of the dirt. Bo also struggled with a brain tumor that threatened his life. Though surgery has not been able to remove the tumor, the Caviezels have been by Bo’s side throughout the procedures. Though there have been difficult times, Caviezel notes that the adoption has been a blessing from God. “The joy that we have from this child, he’s like our own…” Later, the couple decided to adopt another child, a healthy newborn girl. However, before the adoption took place, they met a five year-old girl – also with a brain tumor. The couple stated that they knew the healthy baby would find a good home, however it was likely that the sick girl would not. They decided to adopt the five year-old and have been blessed ever since. Caviezel continued by discussing the courage it takes to do the will of Christ and encouraging those who may be scared to do what God is asking. “When you have great fear, that is when you are a Christian…you have no idea the blessings you have coming to you if you take a chance on faith.” Reflecting on his earlier years, Caviezel stated that he has been a coward in the past – one who would run away from the will of Christ that seemed so difficult. “I never want to do that again.” Caviezel added that he prays every day that to have the courage to do the right thing and when considering whether or not to do the will of God, to never take for granted the sacrifices that He made for us. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Caviezel at a place he visited often, I am a Muslim woman who has never been more impressed in a single individiual as I was in Mr. Caviezel. Not only does he always promote goodness, postiviness, joyfulness in coming up with jokes at the drop of a hat, this guy is extremely intelligent! Jim, if you ever read this--you are every woman's dream of a true man, every parents wish for their child to turn out like, and most importantly--what GOD expects from us on this journey of life...
Your friend, Mariam

Hello to both of you! I saw "The passion of Jesus Christ" and just want to say that the way how you showed Jesus love and sacrifice is how i see him when i read the bible. I believe that he wants to do big things in your and your wife's life. Seek him, seek him every day till you find him,he is a living God and he created us to have a real relationship with him. He has a power to heal your child,he is Almigthy. Pray to him, worship him not only when you are in troubles every day.
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you"John 14;26 God Bless you.

I had the privilege of hearing Kerri Caviezel speak at a Catholic womens' conference this past weekend. Absolutely amazing woman! At the end of her talk, Jim surprised her with roses. He spoke the previous day at the mens' conference. I wish I could have heard his talk. These are two extremely blessed, generous and GENUINE people! God bless them both for openly proudly practicing their Catholic faith in the sometimes faithless Los Angeles and acting business. God bless you both!

Hi Jim, I am Rose, a lover of Jesus, its great to hear that you are really a good christian. Not by name but by work you are that our Father, Jesus wants us to be. God bless you and your wife for moving forward and doing what God told you to do. Jesus must be very happy with you. He loves you so He chose you to play His role. You trully depicted Jesus in Passion. It was an awesome movie. Be happy always and pray whenever you are in trouble God will search peace for you and your family. Jesus will bless your kids and you all. Praise the lord. Stay well my friend. Love you very much.

I pray for Mr. Caviezel and his wife to quickly find attachment resources as his children will most likely have issues with attachment disorder - I am a trad Catholic who has a Daughter from china with this issue and she was only in the orphanage for 9 months. It has been a challenge but it will teach them to exercise great patience and love, which we have had to learn. I wish them luck and hope he looks into the work of Nancy Thomas, Deborah Gray and Bryan Post on the subject.

Nice to see such uplifting coverage of Catholic Sedevacantists on this site. I hope there are more stories like this about people associated with the Alliance for Catholic Tradition and Roman Catholic Sedevacantism in general.
