.- The Director of the Vatican’s press office, Fr. Federico Lombardi denied press reports on Wednesday that the Vatican has rejected the candidacy of Caroline Kennedy for the job of U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. “We have not received candidates for the position of new US Ambassador to the Holy See, and therefore it is not true that (Kennedy) has been rejected,” Fr. Lombardi said when he was asked to comment on a story published by the Italian newspaper “Il Giornale,” which is usually well informed on Vatican affairs. Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, supported Obama’s candidacy during his bid for the presidency. She defines herself as a “pro-choice devout Catholic.” She is a strong supporter of abortion and is opposed to any kind of restrictions such as parental notification. Subscriber comments:

One of the first rules instituted by our Church was that laity must not discuss doctrine; here, we see why. For a layperson to suggest that another not present his-or-herself for Communion seems vicious. It were better to refuse to break bread with the unrepentant, than to doubt that one's prayers for the conversion of others have not been answered...for one can never be sure what miracles happen from day to day. Catholics seem, to me, angry these days, and I can't see why. Church is for sinners...invite, invite, invite, and deal with the challenges.

Abortion supporters who call themselves "Roman Catholics" do not have the Holy Spirit's infused wisdom to understand how repugnant abortion is to the Holy Trinity. Ms. Kennedy cannot flaunt Church teaching about abortion and yet call herself devout. More importantly as another blogger so cleverly noted, she cannot recieve communion if she supports this heinous crime politically, financially or publicly according to Church law. Consequently, any consider4ation of her candidacy is anathema. Furthermore, it was disclosed by several prominent media sources that she abruptly quit her quest for the New York Senate seat because of the leakage of her alleged affair with New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger. This also would need to be vetted as well.

Part of this is the Church's own fault. Until our Priests, Bishops and Archbishops are willing to deny "Catholics" such as Ms. Kennedy from participating in Communion or allowing themselves to even be identified as "devout" Catholics, then we will continue to have the Kennedy's, Pelosi's and Sebelius's of the world.

05/09/2007 - Pope Benedict politicians they risked excommunication from the Church and should not receive communion if they support abortion.
Under Church law, someone who knowingly does or backs something which the Church considers a grave sin, such as abortion, inflicts what is known as "automatic excommunication" on themselves. The Pope said parliamentarians who vote in favor of abortion have "doubts about the value of life and the beauty of life and even a doubt about the future". You CANNOT be pro-abortion rights and be in communion with the Catholic Church, not in the past, not now, not ever. There is no such thing as a "pro-choice devout Catholic". It is a contradiction and outrageously arrogant statement by Ms. Kennedy. Do your homework Ms. Kennedy, you should NOT even be presenting yourself for Holy Communion!

Too bad the report wasn't true. You can't be a "pro-choice" Catholic.
