DVDs published to help the faithful learn the 1962 Latin Mass
Related articles:
.- The Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, which was recently incorporated into the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has announced the publication of two DVDs to help “priests and the community” celebrate Mass according to the extraordinary form of the Latin Rite. The two DVDs include an entire Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos—until recently the president of the Commission—at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in 2003. The discs also feature segments explaining in detail the “gestures and rubrics, from the preparatio ad missam (preparation before Mass) to the act of thanksgiving in the sacristy.” The video is available in four languages (Italian, English, Spanish and French) and is intended to be the “first concrete contribution of the Holy See for the implementation of the Pope’s wishes contained in Summorum Pontificum.” The Motu Propio “Summorum Pontificum,” which was released in July of 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI, granted universal permission to the faithful to celebrate the Tridentine Mass adapted by Blessed John XXIII in 1962. The Commission has not yet announced where or how the DVDs can be purchased. Subscriber comments:

The pope needs to urgently have the Vatican force the Archdiocese of San Francisco to provide numerous Latin Masses throughout the city each Sunday. Eventually there ought to be Latin Mass, the 1962 version on a daily basis also.
As an Irish immigrant, I simply refuse to ever again attend the "circus Mass" as read in English.

The changes of 1962 are still very, very, very drastic (those changes spanned 300 pgs!); it is no longer the "unchanging rule of worship" that is the Canonized Roman Mass, but just the 1962 Missal.
Anything pre-Bugnini is much preferred. ct

This is truly wonderful news, but it is only the very first step on the road of the true restoration of the Church. If the Holy Father really means business,it would be most helpful on his part, if he began by celebrating the Mass of ALL times in public himself, pour encourager les autres so to speak. If this were to happen, then perhaps his modernist fellow bishops would begin to take notice of what he says on this issue.Laus plurima Deo!

I have been celebrant at the Latin "Novus Ordo" Mass for nigh on two years. We havea sung High Mass on Sundays at 12:30 P.M. and a weekly low Mass on Wednesdays at 7:00 A.M. While the church is not packed, people come from long distances for this opportunity...The reverence for the Church and the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle is tremendous and noticeablly different from the lack of reverence displayed at the other English liturgy. This is great news!! The Latin Mass creates a holy, respectful and awesome enviorment for the faithful to truly pray. One immediately feels as though they are in the presence of God. It has been so difficult for many faithful to concentrate enough to pray at Mass with all the talking going on and the disrespect shown towards Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I have heard many Catholics voice this complaint.
Thank you!!!

"The Cannon Regulars of St John Cantius have on their sanctamissa.org great information and videos on the latin Rite Mass."
Unfortunately, and I mean tragically, and I hate writing it, but for the health of the Church we must stop being silent: the Canons Regular at St. John Cantius also promote chatting inside the church after mass, and their famous choir not only permits but features gay activists (not just gay people) and non-Catholics. In fact, they have all the problems of any other novus ordo parish, with everything pushed under the rug. More needs to be reformed than just the liturgy, and the proof is St. John Cantius.

I truly believe the Latin Mass in our Catholic Churches is just what is needed. There would be respect and reverence to our Lord. There would be unity to all the Catholic Churches.
Vatican II was to be totally different to what is being offered in our Churches today. People found easy loop holes and took advantage to run the Mass according to them and not according to the Pope and God Himself. We are sould searching for the truth and the God is Truth and Love. May we pray daily for the conversion of the hearts of the Bishops and priests so that the Mass my become what it really is...a bloodlyless Calvary.

God bless you all and give thanks, blessing, honor, worship and praise to the Mighty and Only One, forever and ever. Amen! Gilene

I quit going to church after Vatican II.
Then I found a traditional Latin Church in Orlando, FL. It was just like being in 6th grade again and I loved it. Then we moved to TN and sometimes I still cry during mass. The priest does nothing except consecrate the host. THe music is horrible. There is no reverence in church, people talk all the time. I blame Vatican II on the way the world is today.

Ad Experimentum
A Rite on Trial “What happened after the Council (Vatican II) was something else entirely. In the place of liturgy as the fruit of development came fabricated liturgy. We abandoned the organic, living process of growth and development over centuries, and replaced it--as in a manufacturing process—with a fabrication, a banal on the spot product.” Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, The Reform of the Roman Liturgy (1993) preface Only the future would tell whether or not this new rite would be commonly accepted and here to stay.” The Reform of the Roman Liturgy, Monsignor Klaus Gamber, pg. 91 Trend v. Tradition “Ritus can be defined as mandatory forms of the liturgical cult that, in the final analysis, originated with Christ, and then, based on shared traditions, developed independently, and were later officially sanctioned by the Church hierarchy.” Klaus Gamber, The Reform of the Roman Liturgy, 1993, pg. 27 When a trend lasts for enough time, a custom is born. If a custom continues to span generations it becomes a tradition. Over a thousand years of tradition is precisely why it would be impossible for any Pope to abolish the ancient ritus Romanus, also known as the Tridentine Mass. Trendy fabrications started at Novus Ordo Masses have caused many desertions from that

Kenneth Acord - you will wait - wait and wait some more for the Mass of Pius Vth and Xth as the Mass moved on with numerous changes over the centuries from Pius Vth - the last OFFICIAL change was by John XX111 in 1962 - ergo THIS is the Tridentine Mass of to-day - or as some would have it - The extraordinary form ! To which you can assist at any SSPX chapel
God bless
