The Roman Catholic Church was growing very well ecumenically up to the 1960s & regular practice of the faith & rates of conversion were also very healthy.
The major question with the conversions to the church today are - which catholic church are they converting to? Is it the one that threw the baby out with the bath water following the Vatican Councils & became protestantised? the one with the protestantised liturgy & the one which wastes its time with interfaith & ecumenical excesses which promote religious indifferentism with all its dangers to Faith? Is it the one which is revising its customary perspectives on Sacred Scripture in order to propagate novelties of convergence & universal salvation, the supposed continued validity of The Old Covenant for the jews & the one which promotes the idea that false religions are on an equal footing with Christ's established Church? Currying favour with the proponents of falsehood using mistaken approaches is not the pathway to true Faith & belief in Christ Jesus. Many will come to Him on judgement day pleading they did great wonders in His name but He will not know them & cast them out. Who cares what protestants or pagans think of The Catholic Church when it propagates The Faith? Did The Christ care what people said to calumniate him? I was brought up by a Traditional Church & parents who taught me to respect all people regardless of religion because we are all created by God: achieved without compromising The Faith

Ecumenism remains very important if Christianity is to thrive in modern times. I'm a convert from Evangelical Protestantism, and recognize through ecumenism, doors open that would otherwise be closed. In recent years, hundreds of Protestant ministers have converted to the Catholic faith (www.chnetwork.org). Even if they don't convert, they will see our love, and reject the idea that the Catholic Church is the "Whore of Babylon" and/or the Pope is the "anti-christ". This in itself has great implications. Although we have the fullness of the truth, who acutally believes Evangelicals and other Christians are not getting to message of Christ's love to the world? If you don't believe they are, you're wrong, and millions of souls will make it to heaven through their efforts. As for other religions, when you throw mud you lose alot of ground. When you do not acknowledge their humanity, traditions, culture, and refuse dialogue, how will they see Christ's love? If we respect them, it greatly increases the liklihood they will respect God's people, and this will serve to protect them from her enemies and foster peaceful relations. Do not misunderstand me; our goal is to convert them. Because the world generally respects the Catholic Church, this enables Christ's messengers to get in the cracks of society to minister to lost souls. Ecumenism is God's will, particularly in this day of age.

What a total waste of energy is ecumenism. So, Pope Benedict XVI really does not believe that Roman Catholicism has the absolute truth. Nor does he believe that The Christ can only bring a peace that the world does not understand. What an appaling tragedy for the world that such a Holy Father has abdicated his responsibilities to Zoroastrians, Animists, Zen Buddhists and other pagan and polytheistic sects. What a slap in the face for Pope St Pius X, Pope St Pius V and all the great Holy Fathers who disagree with his abdication. Almighty God help us in our hour of immense need.

I look upon Card. Kasper as an arch-heretic, so his characterization of Benedict's scheduled meeting with Protestants, as a "confirmation" on the path to ecumenism, does not bode well for earlier expectations.

Blessed Pius IX held a private audience for a group of Anglican ministers. Upon the conclusion of the audience, as he was leaving, one minister requested a blessing from the Pontif. At first, the Pope hesitated, but on second thought, the Pope raised his hand and intoned: "Ab illo + benedicaris, in cuius honore cremaberis. Amen."
Not very ecumenical, is it?

Is ecumenism not a failed experiment? I think the average Catholic no longer believes it necessary to belong to the Catholic Church for salvation, and is confused thanks to the ecumenism practiced by the Concilar-Church. The goal of the ecumenical movement is not to bring back Catholics back to the Catholic Church, but to have nice peaceful relations with Buddhists, heretics, Hindus and build a utopian society on earth. This goes against what Christ said; “Go ye into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned” (Mark 16: 15-16). Its time to end this non-sense!
