It seems like Peter has been intimidated once again to deny the faith. First by the Judaizers, now by the Islamists. We need a Paul at the Vatican. We should pray Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and critic of Islam converts to Catholicism; then he could be the voice of Paul.

It appears some here believe VC II was "infallible" - even Pope Paul VI stated clearly it was not infallible.
Evangelise - yes - The Lord Jesus ordered His Apostles to evangelise. Read The Sacred Scriptures and read about the history of The Church and its active propagation of The Faith. There is only One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism or perhaps you are suggesting Our Blessed Lord or the Evangelists were liars. The Christ warned that false prophets would come after Him. The problem in post-conciliar church is that everything The Holy Father does and says is treated as though it is infallible and unquestionable. This is sheer papolatry. Jesus came to bring the sword of The Gospel which would be disruptive and set family members against each other. It would bring trouble to His disciples. It ceratinly brought plenty of problems down on His Sacred Head. Now this is a far cry from what the "peace at any price" lobby imagine. There is no mystery to what has happened once again before our eyes in public - the hierarchy seem to have lost faith in The Gospel and its author. The "u" turn began in the 1960s and it is becoming worse. Islam is a militant evangelising religion which will not suffer such faintheartedness. This is why it is supplanting christianity in Europe, slowly but surely. The post-conciliar papacy has helped them to achieve this alarmingly well. Even JP (RIP) II gave them permission to build their grand mosque in Rome. Defense of such behaviour is ridiculous.

I think that the Holy Father did exactly what god wants him to do to try and bring peace in the world .It is trough love that peace will be accomplished and not war .Love is the only solution to gods people unity

I believe (along with many others) that we are in the Great Apostasy right now.

You arrogant bigots! So you know more theology that the Holy Father. I bet you didn't even read the sections where the Holy Father quotes from a document from the Vatican Council II, which is the authentic teaching of the One Holy Roman Apostolic and Catholic Church. You need to brush up on things, my friends.
And, please, do NOT evangelize; we have enough problems! +God bless you! d. bernard

"Dialogue"? Would Our Blessed Lord have "dialogued" with the Pharisees so that they could go along together down the road of peace? No, of course not, as He knew that only His way will bring about the peace which the world cannot give; the peace that only men of goodwill were capable of receiving and a peace that passes all human understanding. He knew the Pharisees weren't up to that, neither were the heads of any other religion for that matter. This is why He established His Church on Earth to disseminate the Gospel in The Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost. There was no compromise with the world and its many false religions. The Post-conciliar papacy appears to have amnesia about Sacred Scripture and about The Church's divine mission, too.
Is someone holding a gun to The Holy Father's head? or is he merely grovelling like his predecessor?

I would love to know why the Holy Father states that those accurate assessments he made regarding Islam and its founder are not his statement today. Benedict commented, reminding them that he has already offered his regrets that offence had been taken and his assurances that the views of emperor Manuel II in no way reflect his own. What does he mean that they no way reflect his own? Why ever bring it up? The truth is the truth is the truth! We can't have it both ways. Why state that these comments are in no way a comment he too holds? Why?
