Pro-abortion politicians honored at Catholic university
Related articles:
.- Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, delivered the commencement address at the Jesuit-run University of San Francisco on Saturday. The pro-abortion supporter spoke during the ceremony at the university’s McLaren College of Business. At the same ceremony, the college honored former California lieutenant governor Leo T. McCarthy, also a pro-abortion supporter, posthumously. In a May 17 letter faxed to the university’s president, Fr. Stephen Privett, Patrick Reilly, president of the Virginia-based Cardinal Newman Society, urged him to withdraw the Pelosi invitation and the McCarthy honor. Archbishop George Niederauer of San Francisco also received an honorary degree during the commencement ceremony for his demonstration of “an extraordinary sense of social justice, a passionate concern for peace, and a commitment to nonviolence to achieve ethical goals.” The Cardinal Newman Society has asked Archbishop Niederauer to boycott the ceremony if the university did not change its plans. I am not catholic, but respect the catholic church very much for its pro-life stance. This is scary to see not only this college, but other catholic colleges embrace the pro-death likes of Nancy Pelosi and Planned Parenthood. Getting in bed with the enemy will only lead to our defeat.

Look folks, the bishops and clergy represent 1.5% of the American Catholic Church, and WE represent 98.5%. When are WE to stand up to the politicians? When will WE email, call, and vote our displeasure? The pope calls for a new evangealization -- that means WE have to step up, the overworked clergy can't do it alone. They are afraid the powerful politicians will sabotage the Catholic agenda even more through funding cuts. PLEASE STEP UP AND MAKE YOURELF HEARD. DO NOT WAIT FOR OUR OVERWORKED CLERGY TO DO EVERYTHING!

I do not mean to be one of those people who complain against the groups and representatives of the Church who go out of their way to stand up against men who do such things as make a place for the likes of Pelosi et al, but having seen countless demonstrations of such opposition fail to the enemy, and continuously be overridden so that opposition is made to appear puerile and sterile and futile, I hope that when someone sticks his neck out like this that other groups will engage in some activity to not just appear for controversy but for attainment of a goal of action which more strenously imposes our position and makes it stick.

This is what the collection basket funds are going for; let's dry up the donations until 'catholic' again becomes Catholic.

How ironic that this archbishop agreed to receive a commendation for his "commitment to nonviolence to achieve ethical goals" in the presence of a politician who supports the exact opposite.
