Cardinal Rivera encourages youth to bring Christ to Mexico

.- The Archbishop of Mexico City, Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, has called on young people in the country to “overcome fear in order to carry the banner of Christ," preaching “faith, hope and charity with courage,” after the example of the Venerable John Paul II.

The cardinal made his comments during the Mass for National Youth Day at the Minor Seminary of Mexico.

Cardinal Rivera encouraged the young people to “act as missionaries...without fear of preaching Christ in the city and doing so with the conviction that you are missionaries called by God to be light.”

“Do not be afraid to be missionaries, do not be ashamed of preaching Christ to others in your surroundings and in your city. You must overcome the fear of carrying the banner of Christ, of love, of hope and of faith,” he said.

Thousands of young people from Mexico City attended the celebration, which included games, cultural and spiritual activities, and vocational discernment.
