Planned Parenthood distributes sexually explicit brochures at Girl Scout meeting
Related articles:
.- Early this week, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts hosted a panel in which Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute brochures containing sexually explicit material to the young girls. The panel served as part of the annual U.N. Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). According to the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), the brochures titled, “Happy, Healthy and Hot,” are aimed at young people with HIV and give graphic details on sex, encouraging a casual approach to sexual experimentation. The brightly colored pamphlets feature silhouettes of young people and state, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” The pamphlet continues by encouraging adolescents to “Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to (your sexual partner).” C-FAM also reports that the CSW event also held a young women's caucus that was co-moderated by the Girl Scouts and the YMCA. Part of the caucus included an “Intergenerational conversation” that addressed “reproductive health” as well as a recent Girl Scout project aimed “at securing the right of women, men and adolescents aged between ten and twenty-five, to better reproductive and sexual health.” Several leaders of U.N. organizations also released a joint statement at the CSW this week called the “U.N. Adolescent Girls Task Force” which encourages U.N. agencies to support initiatives “that empower … adolescent girls, particularly those aged 10 to 14 years.” One aspect of this “empowerment” is providing these young girls with “life-skills based sexuality education, HIV prevention, and sexual and reproductive health.” According to C-FAM's Friday Fax, Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women of America argued that Planned Parenthood’s initiatives are motivated with the intent of increasing their revenue. “Governments and NGOs should be aware of Planned Parenthood’s insidious plan to work with U.N. agencies and girls’ organizations in order to profit from encouraging kids to be sexually active,” Wright stated. The Girl Scouts of Western Ohio have posted that this was not true and they do not have a relationship with Planned Parenthood national or otherwise. Check out their statement, yet this was admitted on National television by none other than Kathy Cloninger (CE) herself. See their response, yet when they answer the phone, they admit a relationship over the phone. Where is the truth? I smell a rat here. There is no doubt that this organization is corrupted, and I had first hand horrible camp experience with my daughter. Do not send your girls to camp alone. Their goal is to have these girls advocate for their left wing cause and lesbian agenda- Pro-Abortion, and reproductive rights. Girls 10- 15 are their Planned Parenthood customers. If they can get the girls to have premarital sex and think it's o.k. then they have a success- that's why parents are aloud in the room.

Anne, YES, IT SHOULD! Anyone who knows that he or she has any sort of incurable and life-threatening sexually-transmitted disease, if he or she has any integrity at all, will refrain from ALL sexual activity, simply out of general love of neighbor. Condoms are not fool-proof, and cannot EVER be trusted to protect anyone, whether one who is beloved or a casual sexual partner. A person who knowingly and selfishly chooses to endanger another's health or life through a potentially dangerous sexual act is not sharing love, but instead, is SOWING HATRED AND DESTRUCTION. Such behavior has eternal ramifications....

Dear stizzek,
Of course, I have no idea how old you are, but perhaps, you are remembering fondly the Girl Scouts of your youth.
The sad truth is that the Girls Scouts have been deteriorating morally for the past few decades. When I was a leader in the late -
'80s-early '90s, they were still pretty good: their publications were generally positive, and still constructively guided the young girls who participated in their programs in character-strengthening morality as well as various aspects of social leadership. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Now, the GSA has become just another social-engineering vehicle to "program" girls in militant feminism (as distinct from authentic feminism, which would require another article to define the difference).
Dear art,
Knowledge IS power...but "Planned Barrenhood" is POISON, and thus any so-called "knowledge" dispensed by that particular organization is tainted by it.

I am very upset that an organization that claims faith would stoop to such a level to promote their cause. First of all the Girl Scouts is a well established organizations don't you think they would have regulations. To distribute such materials to a Girl Scout Conference would have to go through so much approval that it would be next year before that would happen. The GSA has had a long established history of tolerance of all race, color, and creed. They accept all backgrounds of people and do not persecute others for their beliefs although they do not preach one type of faith they encourage all girls to develop and practice faith in a higher Being. People wonder why so much of our youth turn from God and religion it is because people like you have corrupted it you have taken it's purity and twisted it into rules and regulations to satisfy your own selfish man needs which are Devil powered . I sirs am a christian but today I am sorry to admit that because of you. Did Christ not turn the other cheek, when he was beaten and killed did he not pray for their forgiveness. Some of you will quote a verse from the old testament I am sure but remember that when Christ died for us he brought us a new Covenant he brought us redemption he is judge and jury and has not given us right to be. I urge all of you who might believe this filth to refrain go to a local Girl Scout meeting and see the difference that GSA is making in these Girls.

...As to their claim that the brochure might have been left in the room by a previous organizational user, the Friday Fax looked into the question of who used the room prior to the Girl Scouts at 4:00 pm on March 1. The National Association of Colored People (NAACP) used the room at 10 am for a meeting on climate change. The UN used the room at noon for an orientation meeting on the Commission on the Status of Women, which was starting that day. At 2:00 pm a European poverty group held a panel on counterterrorism...

As one reader posted earlier, the real story is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and their open advocacy of abortion rights, posted openly on their website. GSUSA is a dues paying member of WAGGGS, and it is WAGGGS, not GSUSA that was hosting the meeting, including its delegates. The question GSUSA keeps ducking is whether at the National level they support this open advocacy, but they keep downplaying the involvement by not even discussing the full role of WAGGGS delegates to the UN CSW meeting.

The above article does not mention that there were no representatives from C-FAM in the room. The article also does not mention that the Girl Scouts have denied this allegation. The brochure, which has not been proven to have been distributed, is a clinical guide to those who have HIV and who are sexually active. (Having HIV does not nor should it not condemn folks to a life of celibacy). It's available, on line, and it isn't in any way, as sensational as it is being made out to be. But back to this article. It is propaganda, not journalism, meant to smear an organization which it hates. While the author is entitled to his/her opinion, he/she is not entitled to his/her facts which are not presented in this defamatory article. And from one of the comments: "frontal assault by Satan" - uh, isn't that a bit medieval? I mean who says this kind of stuff? Anyway...

Our (Girl Scouts') participation in that conference was recently the subject of numerous internet stories and blogs that are factually inaccurate and troubling. Here are the facts of that meeting:
• The Girls Only Workshop was jointly hosted by Girl Scouts of the USA, UNICEF’s Working Group on Girls, Girls Learn International and The Grail. The meeting was only open to the girls and participating sponsors.
• Only seven adults were in the room at the time of the meeting, each representing one of the sponsors of the event. No one from Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute was in the room to report on the event.
• 30 - 35 girls from across the world participated in this event. All teenagers.
• The girls received a copy of the only document they were working on titled (“The Girls’ Statement”). No other documents were given to the girls as part of this event.
• The Girl Scouts of the USA was not contacted by Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute (C-FAM) regarding its initial story to discuss the facts of this event. Had they applied these basic journalistic standards, perhaps the true details of this event would have been reported.

Come on! Do really think Girl Scouts with all its rules and regulations would allow the distribution of such material at an event? I am a leader of my daughter's Girl Scout troop and there are guidelines we must follow. Several other groups had use of the room that the meeting was held in and obviously these were left over pamphlets from another group. Unless the reporter of this incident was in the room and has proof this occured, i am extremely saddened that your organization would slander an organization such as the Girls Socuts of the USA who prides itself on building girl of confidence, courage and character.

The first responsibility of an adult who knows of or has witnessed such distribution would be to shame Planned Parenthood by releasing that report to the mass media.Getting it out front for all to see is the only answer to the problem. Making comments or critizing it is expected but action is needed here. Otherwise there is no solution to the problem. Agree?

I am 100% Pro-life. If the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute reported this, they should have obtained a copy of the brochure while at the conference and put it on the web for us to view. If they are reporting what someone else says happened, then that person should have obtained a copy. A cell phone picture while at the conference holding a copy of the brochure would have been ideal. There are a lot of rumors about the Girl Scouts, but I need proof. I have a daughter in Girl Scout and would remove her if people would provide proof, not hearsay.

Friends, There is alternative girl's scouting organization out there: AMERICAN HERITAGE GIRLS. American Heritage Girls was started in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1995 in order to offer a faith based leadership development program to girls ages 5-18. Through the AHG program, girls are enriched physically, mentally and spiritually through a diverse range of badge activities, community service projects, camping and more. American Heritage Girls currently has Troops in 39 states, and its new independent girl program, the Trailblazer Program, currently operates in two European countries and Japan and in state side areas that presently do not have AHG troops. I am in the process of starting one at my local parish. Since we will be chartered by a Catholic parish, our troop can have membership priority given to the parish, and be advertised as a "Catholic Troop" (the same could be for any other chartering organization, Baptist, homeschool, etc.)and do service projects to support the parish. AHG is set up so that the chartering organization and the troop maintain strong ties. Also, Boy Scouts of America just this past summer signed a Memorandum of Mutual Support with American Heritage Girls. No other girls scouting organization has this. It is the future of scouting for girls. Please check them out. God bless!

To Australia all knowledge is not power. The pamphlet also stated that if a young person is HIV positive not to worry .Sex is even more pleasurable because they will be comfortable with their status.
Also, in the pamphlet advice that the infected person is not responsible to inform potential partners they are infected. Rather it is the potential sex partners responsibility to ask. this is not power, it is criminally negligent in my humble opinion.

This story is factual-TRUE- I was at the UN and this pamphlet was given to my daughter and her friend who were in attendance.
If your daughters are in the girls scout please make a stand and withdraw them until the scouts cut their affiliation with Planned Parenthood. this is quite serious.

Check out today's c-fam. Yes, the Girl Scouts are denying this but it was there. Dont' forget what GSUSA CEO Kathy Cloninger told the viewing audience in 2004 on the Today Show: we partner with many organizations...YWCAs and with Planned Parenhood organizations across the country, to bring information based sex education programs to girls. In all my years of training in Catholic schools, not once did I hear that my sexual behavior should be based on information but on the morals taught to me in the Church. To have the Girl scouts directly oppose Church teachings, led to my leaving them after many years. And it is not just in the area of sexuality that GSUSA is anti Catholic - it is in many many areas, just read the Journeys. I have brought myself and my daughters to the God honoring, Christ centered American Heritage Girls and so glad I did!

I didn't want to believe it at first either as I have 2 girls in scouts and they love it. Their local troop is excellent! However, the broader story here is really told at the World GS website which details their positions on adolescent sexual health, sexual freedom (without parental controls) and reproductive health, including they advocate for universal access to ABORTION!. That did it for me...no more girl scouts unless the US Girl scouts totally depart from World GS!

Girl Scouts USA has issued a statement saying that the brochure was in fact NOT distributed at the workshop. Here is their statement via Michelle Tompkins of the GSUSA Public Relations office:
The Girls Only Workshop that Girl Scouts of the USA recently co-sponsored at the United Nations was supervised by adults and included no distribution of any brochure or collateral of any kind. The only participants were adults from GSUSA, Girls Learn International and The Grail, as well as 30-35 teenage girls. No materials were handed out.
The Girls Only Workshop was jointly hosted by Girl Scouts of the USA, UNICEF’s Working Group on Girls, Girls Learn International and The Grail as part of the 54th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. The workshop was a group conversation conducted to formulate a document that would express girls’ perspectives on global issues affecting girls.
The Girl Scout organization does not take a position on family planning. Our membership is a cross-section of America with regard to opinions on religious and social issues and practices. We believe these matters are best decided by girls and their families.
The Girl Scout organization has no affiliation with any political organization.

Be yourself. an interesting remark considering that it is criticized by individuals who remark at how western culture often puts pressure on young girls to be sexually active. further more, individuals of age ten or older should be the prime targets of reduction in sexually transmitted diseases, and attempts as psychologicical and sociological coercements in to sexual activity that often come from individuals not culture at large. thus the program focuses not on blaming cultural precepts but on regardin females to be well established in their own sexuality, that they ar not coerced by attempts t make them feel as though they are being unreasonable or altogether rigid in what they will or will not do in a sexual situation. the outbursts and cries as well as the accusations of planned parenthood attempting to secure it's own financial situation are unfounded as the group does not need sexually active teens to further its income sources. in fact, a rise in unplanned pregnancies, stds and other negative consequences would limit their resources by weakining the number of individual who can purchase or seek out sexual aids such as condomsand brth control. unlike a market for , say , cigarettes planned parenthood benefits from an increase in those safer and more well expierenced in avvoiding the pitfalls of sex, just as the supposed exposes on abortion clincs cover up of sexual abuse made no sense given the exposing sexual abuse was likely to increase the attention of funding.

Don't blame the Girl Scout for this one, guys. I'm a senior in Girl Scouts and this is my first time hearing of this. It all depends on the individual relability of your troop leaders; some will allow this rubbish, others will refuse it.
Planned Parenthood, as usual, is the one to blame. How can we gte this thing rescinded? How can we stop them from distributing it?

I will NEVER buy a girl scout cookie again. Period. Furthermore, if I am approached for a sale, I will quietly inform the parent why I will not buy any more from them. Any parents I know in scouting, and I know a few, will be informed. This is a sad turn of events, and I am digusted that anything innocent is attacked. This is truly SATAN at work.

Their cookie sales are what they count on...the profit is big! I won't be buying any more cookies from this organization, and believe that if all of us who find this infiltration of our children offensive, will stop buying and supporting the GSA...then possibly they will stop interfering with parent's rights and responsibilities, and leave teaching morality and values up to the parents.
