.- Details about Pope Benedict XVI’s much-anticipated apostolic journey to the United States next year have begun to emerge. Anticipated stops for the Pope’s first-ever US visit include, New York, Washington, Boston and possibly Baltimore.

The tentatively scheduled April 15 to 20 trip is centered around a papal speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon personally invited the pontiff to address the UN.

However, plans for the voyage remain unconfirmed. George Weigel, in comments to CNA, said that "[i]f the Pope comes to the UN next spring, he'll obviously do one or two other American cities.” “Nevertheless, there is no decision I'm aware of on which it would be.”

Sources familiar with the plans for the papal visit say that the pontiff will visit New York, where he will celebrate Mass at Central Park, give an address in St. Patrick's Cathedral, and pause for a moment of reflection at Ground Zero.

The trip, however, will reportedly begin in Washington, where the Pope is expected to meet with the president, visit Catholic University of America and say Mass on the National Mall.

The last stop is Boston, where he is expected to address the sexual abuse scandal. His visit there would end with a Mass on Boston Common.

Salvation comes to us only through Jesus with the Holy Spirit of God. Only Jesus can save souls. That is why he died for us.

I agree totally with d post below. No matter how you look at it. we are all sinners and come short of the glory of God. The pope may have d best intentions, but he is just a man, like any other. In the Bible, Peter was a leader of the early church, just like a pastor. but Peter himself knew he was a sinner. so did Paul. Do not follow the Pope. Follow Jesus! Follow the one who died for you. have you ever heard a voice from heaven saying the Pope is this or that?? nope, and u know y guys? cuz the pope is a sinner, a poor creature, just like any of us in need of a Savior. all that kissing of his ring, kissing his feet. come on! better spend your money in helping someone in need rather than spending it in going to see the ¨Holy Father¨. Only God is holy, the Bible is clear on that!

Sorry but there is no MAN that can be called Holy.
There is only one that is worthy to be called Holy that is my savior.
The Pope has done a lot of good but salvation can only come from GOD and not a man.

May His Holiness Pope Benedict meet with Protestant leaders on his visit. Perhaps open more dialogue between Christians.

Thus far, Pope Benedict has done an incredible job of filling John Paul II's shoes, which everyone knew would be no easy task. Hopefully his visit will have a positive impact on the US Church, which, to put it charitably, is in a state of grave doctrinal crisis.

"Pray for the canonization of Pius XII, John XXIII, and John Paul II"

I am so happy to hear the Holy Father is coming to see us!
We love him so.

May the US receive graces necessary for conversion in this media perverted society we have to endure everyday.
Oh Holy Father come and bring truth and purity to our Nation!

When is America going to stop broadcasting early when someone of importance is going to be here. Nothing like telling every nut and screwball that would like to harm our Beloved Pope will have plenty of time now!! Catholics are going to really pray hard for Pope Benedict XVI safety in a country that doesn't know how to use common sense!

Thank God he is coming to America!
One hopes that he will close the cafeteria line once and for all, and announce what's on the table for dinner!
