Mother of the Agonizing

At the feet of the cross,
you escorted Christ.
Your prayers and witnesses,
of love,
were united to his terrible pain,
sorrowful mother
and full of hope:
accompany your son,
who is bound
to leave from this world,
intercede and provide him,
you maternal support.

Help all of those, who suffer
from your departing,
obtain for us strength
to live the hope.
That our human suffering,
may not obscure,
in any way
the conviction and light
of the burning faith.
That we may recall,
that death is a transition,
that he who dies in Christ,
lives in him,
that the separation
is only momentary,
that loneliness
that leaves the one who goes,
in an invitation to live hope
and communion in prayer.

I implore,
mother,
for the pilgrim
you left
on this earth,
that your tenderness
may guide him in all moments.

I beg you also,
Oh loving mother!
For those who here remain,
that you may
confirm in faith,
strong in hope,
we may go forth
in our time,
living charity
Amen.
