Pope uninjured by Christmas Eve incident

Dec 25, 2009 - 07:34 pm .- Pope Benedict XVI took a fall at Thursday evening’s Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica when he was pulled to the ground by a woman who jumped a barrier and appeared to try to hug him. The Pontiff was not hurt, but Cardinal Roger Etchegaray of France who was nearby was also thrown to floor and suffered a broken leg.

Pope Benedict says ‘Merry Christmas’ to the world

Dec 25, 2009 - 05:10 pm .- Pope Benedict XVI directed a message to the faithful and bestowed his Urbi et Orbi blessing from St. Peter’s on Christmas Day. The Holy Father invited the communion of believers in Jesus to join in solidarity to confront the challenges offered by the world today.
