Daily Readings:

First Option

  • First Reading

    Proverbs 3:27-34

27Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. 28Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it" -- when you have it with you. 29Do not plan evil against your neighbor who dwells trustingly beside you. 30Do not contend with a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm. 31Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways; 32for the perverse man is an abomination to the LORD, but the upright are in his confidence. 33The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the abode of the righteous. 34Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he shows favor.

  • Responsorial Psalm

    Psalms 15:2-5

2He who walks blamelessly, and does what is right, and speaks truth from his heart; 3who does not slander with his tongue, and does no evil to his friend, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; 4in whose eyes a reprobate is despised, but who honors those who fear the LORD; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5who does not put out his money at interest, and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

  • Gospel

    Luke 8:16-18

16"No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a vessel, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, that those who enter may see the light. 17For nothing is hid that shall not be made manifest, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light. 18Take heed then how you hear; for to him who has will more be given, and from him who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away."

Second Option

  • First Reading

    Galatians 2:19-20

19For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. 20I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

  • Responsorial Psalm

    Psalms 128:1-5

1Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways! 2You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. 3Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4Lo, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD. 5The LORD bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life!

  • Gospel

    Matthew 16:24-27

24Then Jesus told his disciples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? 27For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done.
