Pope Francis' visit to Iraq in March 2021 was historic, to say the least. The pope met with a prominent Muslim cleric, celebrated Mass for throngs of young people, and visited numerous sites of historical and religious importance.

Iraq is a country where people of different faiths have coexisted for thousands of years, but in recent decades, conflict has driven Christianity almost to extinction. Did Pope Francis' visit turn the tide for Iraq's persecuted Christians?
