About 90% of those living in southern Lebanon’s Christian villages have fled their homes amid the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, according to Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), a Christian advocacy organization overseen by the Catholic Church.
Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Shia militant group in Lebanon, began attacking Israel at the Israeli-Lebanese border following the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in October.
Since then, there have been more than 100 Lebanese deaths, with several hundred injuries, according to the nation’s health ministry’s Dec. 19 report.
Media outlets have reported much of the fighting consists of sporadic artillery fire and airstrikes and threatens to escalate into all-out warfare.
