Pope Francis reflected on the nature of Christian vocation on Saturday during a meeting with Paraguay's clergy, religious and seminarians.
"A person called by God does not show off; he or she does not seek recognition or applause; he or she does not claim to be better than others, standing apart as if on a pedestal," Pope Francis said.
He pointed to the example of Christ who, though he took on the form of God "did not regard equality with God something to be exploited."
The Pope encouraged the crowd to also mimic Christ's life of prayer. He said Jesus achieved perfection "with prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears"."
