Washington D.C., Feb 26, 2018 / 13:24 pm
The US bishops' conference has designated today, Feb. 26, 2018, as "National Call-in Day for the Protection of Dreamers."
The bishops are urging Catholic to contact their senators and representatives to encourage assistance for the "Dreamers,"--people who were brought to the United States illegally as children and are protected from deportation through the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA's protections are set to expire on March 5. President Donald Trump has said that he is not sure it is within his powers as president to extend the program.
Have a few minutes today? Call your Congress at 855-589-5698 and ask them to support a humane, bipartisan solution for DACA youth - the Dreamers. https://t.co/gZlFSzXNyF #sharejourney pic.twitter.com/MLjDEjJc7A
