Pope Benedict XVI met with Japan’s Prime Minister, Taro Aso, in an audience on Tuesday morning. According to a press release from the Vatican, the two heads of state discussed the economic crisis in Japan as well as the Holy See’s commitment to Africa.
The communiqué also noted that “At a bilateral level, attention turned to the good relations that exist between Japan and the Holy See, as well as to the understanding and co-operation between Church and State.”
