St. Katharine Drexel was born in 1858 to a wealthy family in Philadelphia. Throughout her life, her chief motivation was to help more souls know and love Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament to to serve Native Americans and African Americans. Mother Drexel opened mission churches and boarding schools for Black and Native American children throughout the U.S. despite prejudice often hindering her work.
