Sep 11, 2018 - 12:33 pm .- The director of the Vatican’s press office has confirmed that Pope Francis will meet with the president of the U.S. bishops’ conference Thursday, along with the conference’s vice-president, general secretary, and the president of the pope’s commission on child protection. The meeting is expected to address the clerical sexual abuse crisis that has roiled the Church in the U.S. for several months.
Sep 11, 2018 - 12:15 pm .- It has been more than two weeks since Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò released his 11-page testimony about the McCarrick scandal. Rome is expected to make "necessary clarifications” in the coming days, but ahead of those clarifications, efforts have been made to substantiate some of  claims made by Viganò about how McCarrick’s case developed and what was done, or not done, to address allegations made against him.

The laity (and some clergy) have demanded answers about the predations of Archbishop McCarrick and the bishops who enabled his abuse. We’re still waiting for many of them, including the disclosure of Vatican documents that could directly confirm or debunk Archbishop Viganò’s testimony.
Sep 5, 2018 - 02:31 pm .- Bishop Emeritus Paul Bootkoski of Metuchen said last week that claims of abuse against then-Cardinal McCarrick made to his diocese were reported to the then-nuncio in a timely manner. Accounts from some alleged victims suggest the diocese had been aware of McCarrick’s misconduct long before it was reported.

Aug 31, 2018 - 12:07 pm .- On Aug. 25, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò released a 11-page “testimony” which made specific allegations against a number of high-ranking Church authorities – including Pope Francis - who, he said, had been aware of accusations of misconduct against Archbishop Theodore McCarrick for many years.
