Do Not Go In There!

Mar 10, 2008 / 00:00 am

Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the dead man’s sister, said to him, “Lord, by now there will be a stench; he has been dead for four days. Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?” John 11:35-40

So I Said to the Guy…

Mar 2, 2008 / 00:00 am

“But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church.” –Matthew 16: 15-18

She Was His Mother …

Feb 25, 2008 / 00:00 am

“She was his mother. What she’d given Him was broken now, and scourged, and spiked upon a beam; and soon He’d be bereft of Bethlehem, and she would see her life fade out of Him, and all her gift moved to darkness and an end. He was her birth, but now no angels came, nor shepherds climbed to find Him at her hands. They’d gone away. But she’d not gone away. She still was His. To bear Him unto death.”- Jon Lynch, W Woman Wrapped In Silence

Live Greater Lenten Challenge…

Feb 11, 2008 / 00:00 am

Can I get an AMEN for Lent? Well it is underway and I hope we all have decided to let the Lord have His way with us this Lent. Remember not to let another day pass by without making the choice to let the Lord into your heart this season. This week we take some love from the Holy Father and talk about what charity and giving have to do with Lent.

Beyond The Sin…

Feb 4, 2008 / 00:00 am

It is that time again. Ash Wednesday is in a few days and Lent has snuck up on us again. I don’t know about you, but I never really seemed to be prepared for Lent. What I am going to give up or do extra is always a game-time decision, one that is rushed and not thought through very well. Each year I try to get a little better at being prepared and planning what I feel the Lord wants my Lent to look like.  It begins with a simple question that I would like to propose to you all: What is going to make Lent this year different than last year? A different perspective or outlook is always the case for me, so if you don’t mind, here is what I am thinking for Lent 2008.

Pro- Living

Jan 28, 2008 / 00:00 am

Once again, our country had the chance to face the reality that we have killed and continue to kill millions of unborn babies. This week provided a great opportunity for thousands of pro-lifers all over the nation to stand together for the cause of protecting human life. In my experiences of pro-life walks and conventions on a both national and state levels, these experiences build great confidence and hope for the future. However, at the same time, people returning to their homes lose the contagious enthusiasm after everyday life seems to creep back in. So we wonder: How we can continue to battle the culture of death and continue to be a disciple of life? There are many ways, but for time and attention’s sake, let me offer the following story.

Nothing to lose…

Jan 21, 2008 / 00:00 am

“If we let Christ into our lives, we lose nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing of what makes life free, beautiful and great. No! Only in this friendship are the doors of life opened wide. Only in this friendship is the great potential of human existence truly revealed. Only in this friendship do we experience beauty and liberation.”    -Pope Benedict XVI

Whole

Jan 14, 2008 / 00:00 am

Happy new year my friends. I hope this finds you with great joy even though we are back to the hustle and bustle of early mornings, school, practices, homework, and so much more. I pray that your break was restful and renewing!

MORE to the Season

Dec 24, 2007 / 00:00 am

Man's great, true hope which holds firm in spite of all disappointments can only be God—God who has loved us and who continues to love us “to the end,” until all “is accomplished” (cf. Jn 13:1 and 19:30).  –Pope Benedict XVI , Spes Salvi

The 90/20 Rule …

Dec 18, 2007 / 00:00 am

You know those weeks where it seems like you just have to keep moving or you might fall over and never get back up? Yeah, well that was this week for me. It was the week for final exams and on top of that two people dear to my heart went to meet the Lord. With the loss of people you love, it kind of puts things into perspective, and things like finals (while important) don’t really mean that much anymore. I did survive the exams but am still processing the struggles all humans have with death and loss. And that leads me to the message this week.

Nothing left…

Dec 3, 2007 / 00:00 am

It was in this place that many suffered and died. They had everything taken away and were left to work until they could not work anymore. Families were separated, heads were shaved, the food was scarce, 10 to a bunk, they had nothing left and little hope to go on. How could the human spirit survive? Those in charge did their best to take that spirit away, but some prisoners did survive this horrible place or at least died so others could. What was it? What inspired those who survived to keep going? Whatever it was, we sure need it. For the sake of your people Lord, we need what they had.

A (Re) Defining Moment

Nov 19, 2007 / 00:00 am

You’re in the middle of an ocean. You wake up, realize where you are, and don’t have the slightest clue why you are there. Amnesia sets in. You don’t know your name and more importantly who you are.  Sound familiar? This is how the story of Jason Bourne started. He found himself in these circumstances and spent the next days, weeks, and months trying to figure out how he got there in the first place.
